  1. MLB kills another good idea: OK, I get why this might have been problematic and wasn't expecting it to happen, but I would have liked it. Maybe some day MLB will do something I want!
  2. The second impeachment was 100% legitimate. Trump was guilty. There is absolutely no was you can reasonably defend him. I mean he didn't even try to hide it! He told us he was going to try to steal the election if he lost and that's what he tried to do telling us about it every step of the way.
  3. Who is Cartman? All his posts (except for one admittedly funny post about the Lions) are hit and run political posts. MarothforMVP? Stan?
  4. The 340 is in millions.
  5. I don't expect a major delay of the season. There is too much money at stake. Both sides will play chicken until the last minute and then they'll make a deal. There will be universal DH and expanded playoffs and a bunch of stuff that most normal fans won't care about.
  6. LOL, I sometimes stop at NPR when I am driving up for my hikes in rural NH. It's either that or country music or right wing conspiracy theory radio or some evangelist ranting about how I'm going to hell for being a liberal. NPR's news is very balanced and includes some conservative voices (not the MAGA BS, but old school conservative). Their esoteric documentaries are pompously liberal. If I'm lucky, I can find a local station that plays rock music from the 80s.
  7. I see the second one now (maybe the opinion arm of the network?). Fox news is still way further right on the chart.
  8. That is not what I see on the chart. NPR is very close to the center while Fox is wide right. Are you confusing Fox Business with Fox News?
  9. yeah, I think their news reporting is quite balanced and intelligent.
  10. I think their big words and cultured tones make them seem more left than they are! They certainly are not extreme.
  11. I hear NPR occasionally and they are definitely not Fox News of the left. They actually seem to be right in the center. I was actually expecting them to be more extreme because my even more liberal than me co-workers and friends like it so much, but I don't find them extreme at all. I would say Huffingpost is Fox News of the left.
  12. Trump told MAGAs not to use mail-in ballots because he planned to sabotage them.
  13. Do you have any strong evidence that the election was not secure? Thinking that mail-in ballots might be less secure than in-person is not evidence.
  14. If we didn't, Trump surely would have taken maximum advantage of it.
  15. Ideally, you'd want to know what was happening at all points in time: Before the policy change, during the response lag and after the response lag. Maybe some kind of interrupted time series.
  16. I never heard of Inkster, MI before now.
  17. I remember watching that. It was a perfect response by Nokes. How did he do that? I guess that's what catchers do.
  18. The United States is super conservative economically and that is driven by a small percentage of very wealthy people who control the country. I think we are generally socially liberal compared to other countries in many respects. When we stray from that, it's done to protect the economic conservatism.
  19. I got it in late December. It wasn't as hard as getting the original shot, but I had to search around for it.
  20. OK, In the past you have suggested that he could become like Hitler with smart perople doing his dirty work. You may have just been saying it hypothetically. His approach does give us lessons in how it COULD happen here.
  21. I still think he's too intellectually dumb to be Hitler and the people he hires to do his dirty work are even dumber. I also don't know if he is evil enough. There is so much evidence of all kinds of crimes he has committed throughout his life, but there have been no rumors of him deliberately having people murdered. If there was even a hint of that, it would be all over the place. Would he care if people got killed for his benefit? Probably not. But there is no evidence that he has ever called for that in his life.
  22. I think it mostly has to do with a massive pandemic that was going to cause a lot of death and suffering regardless. The second most blame goes to Trump dismissing the severity of the pandemic to protect his presidency. As for Biden, his messaging was a lot better, but it seemed like getting vaccines out to people was very slow and it's still slow. Getting a booster was not easy. Getting testing kits hsas not been easy. Could they have done better? I don't really know.
  23. The devil we know. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/01/anibal-sanchez-considering-return-to-mlb-in-2022.html
