  1. This place’s ambient noise was as loud as I’ve ever heard it and they leave a dude open for hours 40 yards downfield
  2. Alex Anzalone has replaced Charles Harris as a team captain
  3. There is a contingent I could see from the walk over from Eastern Market, but FAR less than I remember being here the last two years.
  4. They have the crowd mic’d for today’s game
  5. I think I would have been more pissed about the 3-0 loss to Chicago to close the season, but - since I wasn't there - I'll take your dad's word that that one was worse.
  6. Speaking of banners, when I looked back at the 1962 season, I was surprised there wasn't a banner for them winning the ole Playoff Bowl against Pittsburgh. Or at least a banner that got taken down in shame five years after putting it up. That was a good season. They went 11-3, never trailed by more than 7 points in any game, and gave Green Bay their only loss that season.
  7. it’s an important one, but I like that it’s only one.
  8. Biggest test yet of whether we have really broken the SOL curse.
  9. The documentary released today on Prime. I’m only about 20 minutes in but I hope the next documentary about the Lions involves less dumping on the city and team.
  10. Instead of overtime just have a Gibbs on Carter tackling drill to determine the NFC Champion
  11. I’d prefer it just because it would be cool to be there lol Adverse fan conditions don’t worry me with this team though. They went into KC and won. SF is familiar to Goff and the weather is likely to be favorable. I think Philly’s January weather would be more challenging, but this team is built to win on the ground too.
  12. The bye puts you only two games from a Super Bowl, and in a league where on any given Sunday you can lose to the Bears over 56 minutes I think that’s preferable. But you’re right that matchups wise, you’re probably looking at like Vikings/Packers/Rams, then the 49ers, then whoever is left. Which is actually a decent path for the Lions, matchups wise. I wouldn’t love playing the Vikings three times in four weeks, though I don’t think it’s an inherent disadvantage.
  13. Eagles have the Bills, 49ers, Cowboys, Seahawks, Giants x2, and Cardinals left. It’s probably not realistic to expect the Lions go 7-0. Our best hope is probably to go 6-1 and finish 14-3 (which is crazy). Unless that loss is to the Broncos, we probably need the Eagles to lose two against the 49ers/Cowboys/Seahawks or three generally, for the Lions to get the #1 seed.
  14. Chiefs can’t beat mobile QBs
  15. I think it goes even before this season. I think Holmes (and Campbell to a lesser degree) presented a “plan” to their contracts, which were longer than most first-time GMs and HCs receive. I think Holmes in particular told Sheila, Speilman, and Wood something like “look we are going to suck in 2021. This roster is trash and we need to burn it down to build from the ashes. In 2022, you should see some progress. By 2023, we hope to compete for the division. By 2024 and beyond, we should be competing for championships.”
  16. I think the goal haas always been to win the North this year.... Super Bowl though? Maybe not.
  17. I think Thursday will be telling. Have offenses figured out the Lions defense? In week three, the Green Bay offense couldn’t do anything against Detroit in the first half and the game was never in doubt as a result. If Green Bay puts us into another shoot out I’ll be concerned. I also think his scheme would be a lot more effective with one more edge rusher who can win a one-on-one and with one more good player in the secondary. We should have had the latter between CJGJ and Moseley. The former though, that falls on player evaluation for trusting Charles Harris to make some leap.
  18. Would be nice. I expect the Packers to come out swinging. They got embarrassed at their place the last time we saw them.
  19. I don’t think anyone goes out of their way to ruin others’ time. On the former forums, there were a couple of posters who - particularly in the political section - were known to **** on the dinner table. That didn’t have to do with their opinions though (in fact they were of very differing viewpoints from the majority of the board for years without issue), it had to do with some personal attacks they were making on others in the forum. They aren’t around any longer. I don’t think it’s the place of a message board to police opinions, or the general emotional roller coaster that is a game day thread. It’s kind of what it’s there for. As long as people remain cordial to each other (which I think they mostly do) I’m not all about drawing a line between rational, reasonable, and too far. Do I roll my eyes a little when I see a “bench Goff” post? Yes. But I just take it in stride and post my equally meaningless “I would kick it here”, because at the end of the day - nothing anybody posts here really matters anyway. But we do it anyway for… Catharsis? Belonging? Who knows. 😆
  20. Michigan was 4.5 point favorites in 2018 before giving up 62. 😖
  21. I’m actually less confident this year than I was last year. Last year, I didn’t see why they wouldn’t win. Road game be damned, Michigan was the better team, the matchup favored them, and they had already rid themselves of the proverbial monkey on the back that was two decades of losing to Ohio State. I still think they can win this year, but I would take OSU and the points if I was a bettor. Karsen Barnhart is an absolute liability on the offensive line. He’s been really bad. Jon Jansen (at 100 pounds less than his playing weight) could do a better job if he took the elevator down to field level on Saturday. They won’t be able to hide him like they have for 9-10 games this season and they won’t be able to say “eh we’ll just run the clock out” like they did against Penn State. If you go one-dimensional, you will lose. You need to put a TE with him, or he needs to step WAY up, or that rotating door will be impactful on the game. Meanwhile, Ohio State is not one-dimensional either anymore. Henderson can run, and if they can get him going, it is nearly impossible to stop both Harrison and Henderson. Michigan definitely has the QB edge (if even 70% of JJ’s potential shows up), and a key will be getting to McCord early and often. Rattle him, make it clear that this ain’t just any B1G game. He got shaken up last week and did not perform well against Minnesota, despite the final score. And then the intangible in the room. I’m not sure missing Harbaugh matters that much in terms of Xs and Os, Sherrone Moore is a good game manager and they’ll have Harbaugh all the way up to the walk to the stadium. I do think it matters in terms of it being The Game, and having your leader on the sideline when the going gets tough, which I think it will. If they get a chance to stick the dagger into Coach Charmin and his band of toilet paper cubs, they absolutely need to take it. Michigan takes up a LOT of his mental energy, and despite his posturing after Notre Dame, until he walks the walk with a tough team in this game, he’s sawft as they come. Make them believe that the tides have shifted. Make them believe that not only won’t they beat Michigan, they can’t beat Michigan. I’ll save a prediction until we are closer, but I think both teams are better than they were last year, and I expect a very close game.
  22. I can’t imagine FedEx appreciates the bad PR their name gets from stuff like this.
