  1. Swift started several seasons like this. He will get injured soon and will come back to earth. It’s tough to say three games into their careers whether Gibbs and LaPorta will be more valuable than Carter. Gibbs and LaPorta have been good and excellent, respectively, but Carter is showing signs of being an elite DT.
  2. It was already almost guaranteed to happen, but now that the offensive whiz in Miami put up 70, some owner is going to give Ben Johnson an offer he cannot refuse. I hope it is in the AFC. (Chargers?) Anyway, we should accept that this season is Johnson’s last hurrah with Detroit. Many years from now we will look back at him as the first member of the Dan Campbell coaching tree.
  3. Yes. Wait until Sewell is back home at RT.
  4. We already saw how Goff looks with a weak OL and poor running game. About like Joe Burrow looked in week one. Hendon Hooker is eligible to come off the injury list in week 5. Whether he will or not remains to be seen. This will give the staff the opportunity to see if Hooker can do all the things Goff can — including off the field and in the huddle — as well as making the throws. This is hard to do which is why the guys who can do it consistently are getting paid over $40 million these days. If Hooker proves he can do all this and extend plays too, that would be something.
  5. Yes Goff has looked good. He was firing balls into tight windows yesterday. Was also throwing them into spaces schemed wide open by Ben Johnson. It is amazing how much separation he is getting his receivers.
  6. Team has yet to play a complete game but is 2-1. Offense was out of sync today with so many changes on OL leading to penalties, and with Calais Campbell wrecking a few plays, but they opened some big holes for Gibbs on the last drive. Defensive line was outstanding. They heard the criticism. Tracy Walker did OK stepping in for CJGJ, but dropped two easy interceptions.
  7. He might be the teams defensive MVP so far this season.
  8. I don’t remember the details of the situation but I know the coach got it wrong.
  9. Looks like bad news for Nick Chubb.
  10. I remember when Holmes drafted Levi O thinking that he didn’t have enough talent to be gambling on injury risks. Then he drafted Jaymo and Hooker. He’s been successful enough in adding talent that these risks aren’t getting a ton of attention, and maybe they will ultimately pay off. But the team is still thin on talent on DL. Hutch is the only difference maker and there is nobody to make opponents pay for double-teaming him.
  11. Also, in retrospect, Montgomery shouldn’t have fumbled the first snap of the second half. 😂
  12. Honestly, I expected the stadium to be 130 decibels and for Seattle to get flustered early. Instead they marched down the field and scored from the opening kickoff. Then they scored from our opening kickoff in the second half.
  13. Campbell fired AP because AP was not following orders and the team was suffering as a result. The defense made major improvements immediately after AP got fired. The only people discussing firing Aaron Glenn are on this message board. The only thing embarrassing today was three turnovers by the offense. Without them, Detroit might have won by 20 points. (It is actually somewhat impressive that Detroit scored 31 after coughing it up three times.) The defense is much improved over last year but until Moseley can play the secondary is still thin outside and the pass rush is still sporadic. They need more production there.
  14. Yeah, he was bad. If there is a goat (not a GOAT) on the defensive side, it is him.
  15. They wanted to have the last possession, and they were right to do so.
  16. Also, can somebody tell me where the hell were all the masks?
  17. You overlook the fact that a coin toss is a 50/50 proposition. If you have the chance to go to OT at home, go to OT don’t lose the game on 4th down. Also, at that point, the Lions had basically gifted 14 of 31 points to Seattle. Lions defense had held Seattle to multiple FG attempts, most of which Seattle failed to convert. I do agree that we are likely going to regret not taking Carter. Even with Hutchinson they could not get any pressure on Smith.
  18. You have to go for the tie then go to OT at home. You can’t assume you will lose the toss and your defense will get steamrolled.
  19. They had no business being in a game where they had three turnovers, including one returned for a TD. That Montgomery fumble on the first play out of halftime was a disaster. Could have matched down the field and gone up two scores. Instead game was tied.
  20. Three turnovers. And they still almost won. Was alarming that they could not get to Smith with two starting OTs out. But Jerry Jacobs got picked on all day. Moseley can’t get here soon enough.
  21. The defense is not worse than last year. Seattle scored twice as many points last year. The issue this game is Montgomery's fumble on the first play of the second half. Edit: Also, the dropped third down pass by Gibbs.
