I was at the game tonight. The feeling was more depression than anger. Once they couldn’t tack on any runs early, you knew the Red Sox would grind Skubal down.
Big Joe is finally a good pitcher just in time for a trade lol. They need so much help in the lineup and have so little to trade. Reyes and castro are once again leveling off. I don’t know man I just want a competent management team that can properly value players both on their team and throughout the league. They thought this roster would be competitive and it’s men vs boys against good teams. And the Red Sox are just ok. We are overmatched.
They didnt pay either Baez or E-Rod at the top of the market by design. I assume they wanted their young pitchers and positional players to be the leaders of a new contender.
Paredes' overall performance isn't good. But Meadows, Grossman, Candy, Schoop, Baez, Tork, etc all experiencing slugging droughts at the same time isn't bad luck. It's indicative of some kind of systemic failure.
You can make the case that Paredes would not have succeeded here even if he was given a real shot. There's a rot within the organization that's caused this. They should not be this bad collectively.
Cameron has been out 11 days on the Covid IL. It'll be at least 3 weeks because he will need a rehab assignment. Hopefully Meadows doesn't have the same fate.
changeup->Tork popup....I can guarantee if you send him down he's going to mash at Toledo. He has to figure it out up here. The team is going nowhere. Young players have to show growth.
Hinch is extending the young starters another inning because he doesn't want to kill his bullpen. I guess I don't blame him. It backfired yesterday but with Skubal pitching tomorrow, you need to keep this close to at least give your offense a shot.
