  1. The hardest point for me to wrap my head around is the idea that you have to take into account what a player is willing to sign for into consideration when evaluating an individual pick. No other professional sports draft is like that...you can argue need vs BPA...but in baseball that doesn't seem to be as big of a debate as "what will this guy cost us"
  2. Yes they do...I sell high risk auto insurance in SE Michigan...my life is a pageant of low watt IQ's
  3. Tork is entertaining.... When be makes contact, he absolutely murders it. The hope is that contact becomes more frequent as he gains experience.
  4. He's sleeping on Danielson...RHC with size who can skate and create offense? He should be higher...much higher
  5. That's why we sweeten the pot a little...or maybe a trade to Chicago will infuriate Javy to the point that he opts out
  6. Anderson is having as bad or worse time in Chicago than Javy is having here...he's a neg WAR player and his career WAR is 10 wins lower than Javy. They've both fallen off a cliff and appear to be very unhappy. make it happen, Scott!!
  7. Wojo on 97.1 just proposed a Baez for Tim Anderson trade...we'd have to eat some money or tack on a prospect because Anderson is cheaper and on a shorter conteact..but, what the hell...why not?
  8. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/2012/top100/ Turner was in the top 15 that year..at #15
  9. The frustrating thing about Tork is the inconsistency. That 9th inning K yesterday is the perfect example...that was a good AB...he worked the count and got the pitcher to throw him middle/middle low 90's FB...a pitch he's supposed to kill...and he was late on it. That's frustrating. Javy going up there as the $25 million man as the potential tying run and waving at pitches a HS player would take...that's not frustrating...it's infuriating.
  10. Baez couldn't have hit those last two he swung at wit a phone pole...Victor Wembanyama couldn't have reached them. Javy needs to sit for a spell. Make him miserable enough to opt out
  11. Tork...late on a middle middle FB for strike 3? WTF? That's supposed to be his pitch
  12. That 95+ mph pitch that Brieske was throwing low in the zone and ran in on RH was just about unhittable
  13. I think Fenech ran afoul of his employer because be became involved in an improper workplace relationship
  14. Johnny Bench had some big paws...
  15. My favorite Emily Waldon tweets are the ones where she presents a video of a player's swing without commenting on it...shouldn't a reporter with a focus on prospects provide some analysis? Or am I just being a hater?
  16. His +/- numbers have been really up and down throughout his career...some years pretty good others pretty bad...but yeah..other than his being RH...I don't see any reason to even consider it
  17. RHD Tony Deangelo is a FA after pulling a Zadina in Philly...he is ...by reputation...a bad person...put he has a nice offensive game and was originally drafted by Tampa Bay under Yzerman. Sign...pass or hard pass?
  18. Stupid Canadian wildfires...
  19. I think Jobe belongs in that tier with Clark and Keith. He's primed to move quickly....
  20. The Leafs have to do something to get off the treadmill...don't know if that means moving on from Nylander, but they have to shuffle the deck a bit
  21. I was not a Thompson guy pre draft...but he seems like an intelligent player who works on defense and has a ton of fluid, explosive athleticism. If he continues to improve his shooting...he has a stupid high ceiling
  22. I would put Jobe at #3 on raw materials alone...I would rank McGonigle in the top 5 and Anderson in the top 10 ahead of Dingler
  23. So...this is fun
  24. Did not know he had been converted to pitcher
  25. Was watching the Tigers Minor league report YouTube cast of the draft. One of the fellas on there was raving about Jobe adding a 3rd pitch with a 2600+ spin rate ( a cutter) said he was already a bit of a unicorn with two pitches ( a FB and SL) that had high spin rates. If his health holds up...which is forever a concern wit pitchers, passing on Mayer and Lawlar might wind up being a good bit less painful.
