  1. From the looks of the screenings going on for government workers, that has already begun.
  2. I keep wondering how long it will be before we see rivers start to catch fire again. (and I agree, Rubio is pathetic)
  3. I'm actually surprised T's ego hasn't kicked in with Musk getting all the attention. Does Musk have the infamous 'golden shower' pictures or something?
  4. According to my brother, one of Musk's Minions is a freshman at Northeastern University, where he teaches. ...and I'm pretty sure that my alma mater has a few embarrassing alumni...
  5. I've seen several posts on SM urging people to freeze their credit. Thanks, Elmo!
  6. "I don't care if it's unconstitutional, as long as he's doing things I like!"
  7. Also as is written on the bottom of that screen shot: El Salvador has agreed to take in deported criminals, and not just Salvadorans. For a fee, of course....
  8. And perhaps work to install a similar system in as many countries as he can? Sigh... I don't understand this kind of thinking, at all.
  9. I was thinking along the lines of the French Revolution. It's a scary thought.
  10. This comes as a shock to no one. Maybe the vote is close?
  11. I think as long as he's making money or that there are people gushing over him, he'll see it through. Unless of course Elon gives him the boot and completes a coup somehow. As for the others in this admin? Judging from his first term, we could probably have a running bet as to how long each member will end up lasting.
  12. And New England as well.
  13. While I don't know a lot of Canadians, those I do know are already boycotting US made products. And some provinces are planning on banning sales of certain products. One that I've heard of is that liquor stores are planning to refuse to sell products from red states specifically. We'll see what happens when it happens, I guess.
  14. Musk's minions have gained access to the treasury, and thus access to all of our personal info-including SSNs. What could possibly go wrong?
  15. "Coin, operated boy....."
  16. "St. Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go-I owe my soul to the company store."
  17. When will Soylent green appear on the shelves?
  18. They also pay a lot in taxes, so they're actually not freeloaders. Heck, they probably pay more in taxes than Trump does.
  19. The Reagan administration's 'response' to AIDS was appalling-at best they ignored it, and at worst they made it into a joke.
  20. The cruelty is the whole point. He likes that NIH and NCI employees are panicked-it makes him feel like a big man. And his supporters like that too-and if their medical treatment is impacted they'll probably blame it on 'the libruls.'
  21. Too cool! Two other people at work share my birthday. It's weird because for decades I never met anybody with the same birthday and now all of a sudden I've met quite a few.
  22. One of my favorite movies of all time! Hmm, I knew my brother shares a birthday with Wayne Gretzky, but I didn't know he also shares it with Paul Newman. That's quite a combo!
  23. My father, and most of his circle, preferred not to talk about his service or things they saw and experienced-this seemed especially true of those involved in liberating any of the concentration camps. It probably wasn't healthy to keep it in, either.
  24. True. I'm old enough that I grew up with women from the "good old days" when they had to stay in abusive marriages, couldn't get a credit card or a mortgage, and good luck if you become a widow because you were encouraged to not get an education or if you did, to not ever be able to make more than your husband. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I think you and I grew up up seeing, hearing and even experiencing some of the same things that we'd hoped we wouldn't see again. 😞
  25. There are people I choose not to engage with for this reason-even when it's a topic I'm interested in. I guess in my old age I've learned to choose my battles more wisely, and to only work on what I know I have the power to change. FWIW, this is true not only here, but IRL and on other platforms as well.
