  1. I think some people are aghast or offended at the suggestion that there might be crazy/hateful people that otherwise generally align with them politically, even if further to the extreme. Left/Right is a very broad box obviously. But it cannot be denied that there's antisemetic feelings among the extremes of both wings. Different reasons and motivations but hate is hate. It doesn't mean that if a person leans left or considers themself a lefty that they are being charged as antisemtic.
  2. We got a dusting of snow last night, its cold but very bright out, no clouds. Went for my brisk morning walk and man the birds are noisy today. That made me happy. I don't know what they are excited about but I like when nature is active.
  3. and I didn't mean to disparage this guy... he's nice. Very gentle. He's not barking or anything. It has its advantages sometimes. When they were outside for yoga a group of muslim kids were nearby acting up and disrupting the class. The instructor tried to do something but again, they aren't listening to some white woman. This guy ran over there and got in their face and they ran off. My son experienced it as a head life guard. He tried to kick some kids out and they wouldn't leave. One of them pushed him in the pool, got his phone soaked. He had to call the police and all summer long one was stationed at that pool for that reason. The feedback we got was "why did they put a white kid in charge there? The kids won't listen to him". The mayor got invovled and they eventually did listen to him. I'm not saying all of this to suggest they are all assholes, part of it is kids being kids but I do think there's an element culturally to always push back on authority and especially "outsiders". Everything is just a suggestion, not a rule to be followed. This is probably what was said about the Germans and Poles the early 1900's....
  4. I have to stay mum on these issues but I will jump in to say I was happy to see Shawn Fain shut that down real quick when he tried to get in the way. "Not up in here!"
  5. By nature it's a partriarchal and subsrvient culture. That leads people to accept their fate as pawns and that the "elders" know what's ultimately best for them and their future. If they have to die protecting a Hamas leader then they are martyrs and the cause continues as they can use that to gain sympathy. Here's an example. In one of my workout classes we have a diverse lot of people. Female instructor. She's counting off an exercise we're doing. Midway she'll often ask one of us to continue counting so she can go around and check everyone's form. Every time she asks a muslim woman to count, this other muslim man will then count over her... as if her counting is not enough. Every time. My wife and other friends notice it and start to snicker when it happens. We call it "man-counting" If they ask questions the instructor will answer, then this guy will also answer too. It's not a language thing. It's just that they cannot lead the class and they should get their instructions from a proper Muslim man, not some white woman.
  6. The young people use that app for everything. It's their search engine.
  7. Here’s some more on some of the left’s antisemitism.
  8. I do not know how these advanced stats get created. But I wonder if at some point there is a subjective element? A decision is made to give weight to some element? To me that can introduce doubt. Someone made a decision. Plus it doesn’t roll off the tongue. I can’t very well mention at a game “well this guys RC25 is blah blah blah”. I sit in the second row in the second level. They might toss me over.
  9. That letter is great.
  10. Is there any reason why you would use BA over OBP? I get old school sensibilities but I have wondered for 25 years why OBP never became the dominant stat that BA did.
  11. Any stat that can’t be easily explained and calculated is going to have issues gaining mainstream acceptance. It’s gotta be a counting or ratio based stat. This year at Comerica they began listing OPS instead of BA next to the names. Started it in may. My theory is it was because everyone except one or two were under .200. I’ve had to explain it to people. That one is easy to comprehend and it makes sense those.
  12. Apparently McConnell slapped him down in a GOP meeting. “You wouldn’t be in the senate if not for citizens”
  13. The Arab nations don’t care who has to die or suffer. As long as in the end Jews also die then it’s fine.
  14. I follow the Webb telescope on FB and it's amazing. that clip is so infuriating to me for some reason... the smug way she says it. James Webb was a titan of a man. He deserves that honor of the telescope. Apollo had over 400,000 people working on it. Here's a clip from the great HBO series From the Earth to the Moon. The dad from Wonder Years plays James Webb. So so great.
  15. Uncle Ralph at the Villages in Florida got the message though. Now he and Carl and Ray and Lyle can have a good laugh over it at the Moose lodge for the 3 pm dinner special over cheap beer.
  16. If you were a server in a restaurant and you saw Sidney Powell sit down at one of your tables, you would cringe. "this one's going to be a handful, I know it"
  17. Ignorance is key to their sides success
  18. Maybe. But I never else said liberals so if a point is made in refutation against what I say then I will go off on the words I used.
  19. Two rabbis attended the funeral. I saw a photo of them with the Iman of the mosque and parents. condemnation, when it happens, of Oct 7 aways comes with a caveat.
  20. i stumbled across this. I don’t know who this person is but it’s a sentiment I have seen expressed many times the last few weeks.
  21. No, nothing triggered. I’m just kind of surprised. The far left being not terribly friendly to Jews is a thing.
  22. Clearly you aren't seeing the same things I am seeing. https://www.timesofisrael.com/us-democrats-lash-socialist-organization-for-backing-rally-supporting-hamas-attack/ https://www.thenation.com/article/society/bds-dsa-antisemitism-israel/ I would strongly argue that a lack of outrage over what happened on Oct 7 or to try to justify it amounts to antisemitism. Just because it's not the same words as those on the right make it's still antisemtism. Think of it as being anti black because you think they are inferior to whites or being anti black just by suggesting they have their own schools and bathrooms and such and such.... both schools of thought are wrong. Anti semtiism can have more than one definition.
  23. The point isn’t that the left or liberals are displaying antisemitism. It’s that some elements of the left, the extreme portion I guess, are. Whether it’s anti Israel or anti Semitism is semantics to me.
  24. I signed up for in Oct 2011 because the Tigers were in the playoffs and there was a rain delay. I noticed people on this site were using tweets to indicate when the game would resume. I was with friends tailgating and signed up so I could follow along and know when we could head in. I think it was an Oakland series.
  25. But what does that have to do with treatment of Jews who are not in Israel and have nothing to do with what the government does there? If someone's targeting Jews in a university, and many other places, who are not in Israel and not part of the government then I will call that antisemitism. Not everyone at a Trump rally are racists and confederates but when you see some of the flags and T shirts and slogans mixed in.... I see no difference here with regard to Israel and Jews.
