  1. He was also into Motorcross during the offseason. They worried the team.
  2. In reviewing 1984 he disses Tram 3 times. First he sort of questions his selection as if it were something questionable... then he spells his name "Allan Trammel" or "Alan Trammel"
  3. One mom of a friend said that Trump was sent by God to save us after "Obama sold us down a Muslim river". that was written by a hardcore evangelical Christian. Never forgot those words. That's the sentiment shared by millions of people in places like Alabama, TN, Kentucky, etc.
  4. I see that sentiment on the facebook feeds of others. A righty friend will post something and I read all their friends comments. To them Rhonda is a "globalist" and, ahem... establishment. They got their marching orders and they are sticking to it. I think it's great that all of these people relented and caved into Trumpism after 2016.... and they still won't get the votes! It's like the Trumpers, to their credit, remember what was said about them in 2016 GOP Primary. The others pretend it was never said.
  5. Phillips would be recognized a lot earlier for his versatility in today's game and the value spotted. I still remember when the Tigers signed him. It was the same time that ESPN got the MLB contract so it seems like they were covering the game more. It was the winter meetings and they were talking to Gammons in a hallway. He called it a big signing and said Phillips will do very well in Detroit. Back in the day when you found out stuff like that from TV rather than a tweet. Regarding Yount..... the rule that every team needs a player leads to guys being left off who deserve it. That's why ASG appearances should not be used to determine a player's historical value. Along with fan voting for starters.
  6. wow. I guess it's a numbers thing too where b/c of each team needing a rep then he got squeezed. I also didn't realize he moved from SS so soon, 1985. I thought it was 87-88. I remember thinking they should do that with Trammell when Fryman came up.
  7. The key is to get all the dumb people to go back to not being interested in politics. I saw an article, that I didn't read completely, that blamed MTV and Bill Clinton. That helped make politics "cool" in the writer's mind. It's a stretch and not completely valid but there's some truth to the sentiment. I think Trumpism made politics interesting to a certain element that otherwise stayed home because they think everybody's crooked so they don't bother voting. We need to get back to that.
  8. I saw one tweet about the 2024 race saying something like "It's fun watching Haley and Pompeo debase themselves all so they can finish 7th in the Iowa caucus"
  9. This came across my feed last night and the rabbit hole I went into was fantastic. I remember it from Blues Brothers 2000.
  10. Not sure that matters if you are the president.
  11. I even watched two movies at once a few weeks ago that way. One of them is a drawn out slow paced deliberate movie with little dialogue. So you gotta be in the right frame of mind. Check out Paris, Texas. Saw it one day as a kid when I stayed home sick. It always stuck with me as a great movie. I’m really getting into the feature on streaming where you click on a movie then do the “you might also like…”.
  12. My wife uses ours a lot. My only problem is the space isn't big enough and I hate cleaning it. The ridges in the plate tears up our scrubber thing. I'm a dinosaur.
  13. I will agree that there's funny business that can occur with the numbers and what they mean. There's some groups that protest Dearborn because of what they perceive as unfair arrest/charging disparities among racial groups. The reason for that is Dearborn and shopping/retail districts on the east and west end. We border Detroit, Inkster, Dearborn Heights. Most of these arrests/charges occur because of things like shoplifting or outstanding warrants when pulled over. I mean... it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you go to Fairlane now there's a certain makeup of demographics and natural forces that say you will always have X number of shoplifting incidents then that's what the numbers will look like. You can't look at the makeup of a city and assume that the crime numbers will just reflect that makeup when so many people visit the city because of the mall and other shopping options. As Chris Rock said.... Fairlane is the mall "White people used to go to". When we go to the mall we go to Twelve Oaks 30 minutes away. It's not because of who is at Fairlane, but rather what is at Fairlane, in terms of stores. There's nothing there for us.
  14. It survived the initial breakup of the orbiter but broke apart on impact. One of the astronaut bodies, Greg Jarvis, was found quite a bit of ways away. NASA has been quiet about the locations of recovery because they didnt want "treasure hunters" looking for things. From reading the books by Fred Haise and John Young I learned how delicate the shuttle was. It was still a prototype after being launched in terms of how you classify aircraft. Haise was responsible for the landing process and Young commanded the first mission. When it comes back to Earth its basically a glider. If you ever watch a video of it's re entry it's remarkable how steep the dive back in was. It broke apart in the disaster not because of explosion itself but from aerodynamic forces from changing it's position when the giant tank it's attached to broke apart. The first shuttle launch was far from a sure thing. Two of the backup air supplies were activated indicating that not everyone died immediately. There was also some changes to the console of the Pilot showing that he or someone else had a chance to react. The netflix doc is infuriating. Managers basically overrode the engineers.
  15. Jan 27 is the anniversary of Apollo 1 and Feb 1 for Columbia. NASA designates the last Thursday of January as their day of remembrance.
  16. Maybe. But we also would be hearing every transgression the victim had in his life as if that justified it. with it being black on black the right wingers can cover the story safely since their viewers can ask themselves “did you see what those blacks did? They never learn.” It’s like a best of both worlds for their media.
  17. Laurence Fishburne was 30 when they filmed that movie. 7 years older than Cuba.
  18. But he didn’t say gangster. Another word that ended in -ER
  19. Fox is all over this and I have to cynically wonder if it’s because the cops are black. That way they can alleviate the racist cop charges. They still have the killer cops to reconcile but this takes away some of the stigma.
  20. I love when there's a tragedy and people say "Regardless of politics".... that means the person disagrees with them and is giving permission for sympathy.
  21. are the others going to apologize for making fun of him?
  22. I can say there's a not insignificant number of people here in Dearborn, while not quite defending him, are suggesting he's being targeted because of his religion and the fact he targeted Jews. They also frame it as a mental health issue. Kind of disappointing.
  23. My guess would be he wants everyday playing time to hone something he's working on and to not sit on a bench, even if it means better food and accommodations after.
