  1. because they listen to Scott Baio and Hercules and James Woods and Kirk Cameron and Ricky Schroeder so it stands to reason in their mind that D list celebrities matter in terms of public policy.
  2. It's my 81 year old Uncle's facebook feed!
  3. My son shared a peeve with me last night... He's 22. He hates when people say things like "They could never make Blazing Saddles today". I guess those people have never watched South Park.

    MAP PR0N!

Not the same Eid but my city has made Eid Al-Fitr a holiday so all government offices are closed. Believe to be the only municipality in the country to do that. This is the breaking of the Ramadan fast celebration.
  5. I don’t think the local papers have much legitimacy anymore. Anyone invested enough to download a podcast is already searching around the internet for information. The age of gatekeepers and inside scoops by sportswriters is over. The daily beat guys are just stenographers. They aren’t having beers at the Lindell AC digging deep for background info. The game has changed so much. The league and teams have their own media to use as marketing. They don’t need the papers. The players are walking corporations so they aren’t going to say anything eventful. The writers are no smarter than many people here. I read an article recently where someone was being presented as an expert in sports business. They were discussing the Bally deal and whether RSN’s are still a thing we might see. The problem is this expert once argued with me that there was no way Tom Gores would ever move the Pistons from the Palace since it was paid for and most of their ticket holders live in Oakland County. We saw what happened there didn’t we? So beware of self appointed know it alls.
  6. Anybody can have a podcast. It’s the modern ham radio broadcast. Just need equipment.
  7. it makes me want to get a budweiser flag for my car. I'm happy for those idiots to not like me. I wish they would move out of my state.
  8. It sounds simplistic but the price is whatever the teams doing the trade say the price is. You only have 30 data points (each MLB team) to go off and just because X netted Y in 2018 doesn't mean X will net Y in 2023. It's whatever team A and team B can agree to. They are the only ones who determine what the market is. The needs and status of each team in a trade are unique. A team with what they think is a surplus of SP in the minors might be more wiling to trade their top prospect SP than a team without the surplus, even though those two prospects might be evenly rated by the "experts". I don't believe Harris will make a trade just to make a trade. This isn't 2017 where they need to get assets for the future. He'd be fine going into 2024 with Lorenzen and Rodriguez on the roster. In 2017 they knew it was over so they were having the fire sale. He will make a trade if it puts the team in a better position in 2024 and 2025.
  9. His voice is worse than RFK JR
  10. This was still a season where I still didn't care so much what the record was. I cared about the individual progress of certain players and whether we could see Harris and his team find a few guys. I'm not interested in a team backing into the playoffs in a weak division with a near .500 record. The games this year have more often than not been competitive. I actually want to go to the games.
  11. woke power lines bro
  12. So it probably cost them extra money to make that a plot point. I saw that he's playing Kerry Von Erich in the movie about that family. Del, I also wanted to ask you.... what's the significance of the green tape. Is that what's used in the industry?
  13. I saw a video of this guy rough housing with protesters while Boebert or Greene or that chick from NY were trying to give a speech outside. Totally violating their rights.
  14. Now I understand why DeSantis hates Disney. He wants Mickey Mouse for his own operations.
  15. I'm glad I scheduled my haircut for today. Got to put on some nice clothes.
  16. DTE spent a few months in my neighborhood a few years ago, going yard by yard, doing extensive tree trimming. My neighborhood's "name" has the word Woods in it... so lots of trees. Frankly I think it's just a matter of staying on top of keeping the power lines as clear as possible from any branches or limbs that may fall off or fly away. Not much you can do when a storm blows in and lines get hit with flying wood. To add a third point to G2's items.... increased extreme weather. This year has been crazy. Didn't rain at all in May. But I don't recall having this number of severe and intense bursts of rain. It might rain for 3 minutes but it's an extremely hard rain.
  17. Coaches should have to sit out 2 years, unpaid, if they leave while on a contract.
  18. Clarify: The Hilton Garden is an exception. I don’t know if it’s technically Greektown but it’s close by. It’s fine to stay there.
  19. Don’t stay in Greektown. It’s not what it used to be.
  20. I was there and said in the 10th you can now use Mr Singles to get the runner in.
  21. A manager isn't going to bash his player and say what I said, they are going to give a bull**** answer. The result may have been what Hinch was expecting. But he has to convince Harris of that.
  22. I'll throw this out there.... Hinch doesn't make the moves, Harris does. So you have to show Harris the data. The data in this case is performance. You have 25 guys on the roster and for better or worse they have to perform. If you cannot bring out a hitter like Haase then why is he on the team?
  23. I bet they would also argue it's to help pay for the CC equipment and phone line and all that other jazz.... which again is a cost of doing business. When I buy a pizza they don't say "Well it's an extra 25 cents because I had to buy a new door". I would push back and say "Well the lack of physical money saves you time and risk from not having to deal with cash and going to the bank and being robbed, making mistakes, etc." I had a low tire on Grosse Isle last week and the only gas station on the Island had a cool air feature. IT's computerized, you tell it how much pressure you want and it stops automatically. And it took credit card. No fishing for quarters, who the hell has quarters anymore. It was $2
