  1. I listened to a few innings and a lot of time I had no idea who was batting or what the situation was. They were carrying on a conversation. Only until the ball was in play did I get a sense of who was hitting. In one at bat they drew a walk and I didn’t know who it was. That could work on TV but not radio. Jim sounds old.
  2. Very interested to hear how the new clock affects the broadcasts. Not a lot of time between pitches to chat I think that’s going to be very noticeable to the listener right away. You give a the call, the pitch, the count.. not much time left to pontificate.
  3. I mean… on the video the “victim” is like “come on shoot me. I dare you”. He did. Guy ran away after his wife was shot but still alive. he egged the guy on calling him a pussy. So the last words he heard were “who’s a pussy now?” I just can’t get worked up about this. They share a lot of responsibility for what happened to them. They were threatening him.
  4. Yeah I mean we don’t know the whole story so this could be premature but they appeared to be bullies. So…. Yeah the guy was wrong but if you keep going after someone you have to expect a response. People snap and why help them or push them to that. Did the vet have some kind of ptsd?
  5. I guess you could say they F’d around and then found out.
  6. He LARP's as a husband and father too
  7. That's what she said
  8. This one I just used and it was an accident. Wife wants to go see Duran Duran. Found the seats we wanted, 5 and 6. (They're starting to charge a $20 premium for the first two on the Aisle). I got to the cart and realized I only clicked on seat 5, not 5 and 6. They hold it for 7 minutes to complete the transaction. So I went back and looked again for tickets, seat 5 unavailable because they are holding it from my previous selection, so I took 6 and 7 and bought those. If you were to try initially to buy 6 and 7 they wouldn't let you leave a single seat in between when 3 and 4 are occupied.
  9. Love Coal Miner's Daughter. When they started production the real Doolittle wasn't a fan of Tommy Lee Jones initially. After the first day they went into town and got drunk and raised some hell. They became close friends after that. Loretta Lynn fainted when she got a glimpse of Levon Helm as her daddy because it was so good.
  10. The only time I can recall Pete making me laugh: And it was mostly Chamalat, who looks exactly like my son in this at the time, except his hair wasn't red.
  11. I love Johnny Cash and was not a big fan of Walk the Line. I'll watch it when it's on but Phoenix didn't hit it right. It might not be his fault but every time I see the guy I think he's a psycho who's about to snap. Johnny was a gentle soul, not a lunatic. He looked the part physically and I was very excited when I found out he was going to play him and that Johnny picked him. I told a friend he was born to play it. Also think they did his first wife wrong. I also share those feelings on the Elvis movie. I knew it would be like that b/c of the filmmaker. And having someone like Hanks play that role that way is also a bad decision. It's too distracting.
  12. Those blocks of shortening were tricky because if you didn't get it in there right, there could be a fire before it all melted into grease. We had these huge knives we were supposed to use to chop it up but the only thing we used them for was target practice. Stack all the boxes of shortening up against the wall and fling the knives at it ninja style.
  13. But to be fair... to get ahead in the GOP you must have multiple divorces, no?
  14. I was foreman on the jury I served on. I assume it was because in a room as diverse as the UN, I was the middle aged white guy in khaki's sitting at the head of the table.
  15. I knew that only b/c I never saw their mayors referenced on Fox News. If they were democrats it would be all they talk about. They're focus now is some Murtaugh murder.... like they are Court TV
  16. They'll blame a "woke" prosecutor or something.
  17. I expect Fox News to report on how bad things are in Ron DeShantis's Florida? Wasn't he just up on in NY bragging about FL's lack of crime?
  18. if those reporters had guns though.....
  19. I left right as the rotisserie became a thing. Boston Market caused a shockwave to that industry. But a few months of that taught me how to tie and cut up a bird. I also lost about 15 pounds from eating that chicken along with the rice that was also new. I threw it all away by going to deliver pizzas.
  20. Pete Davidson is the modern day Greg Allman... an ugly dude that certain women are attracted to.
  21. LBJ wasn’t that keen on HHH either. He preferred him over Nixon only slightly.
  22. He claimed to have gotten a lot more “tail” as he put it than JFK and was jealous of that reputation he had.
  23. This is one of the last photos of LBJ. I believe his last public appearance was at Truman’s funeral, which was about a month before he died.
  24. Yes. You drain it into the contraption then hose it back in, running it thru the filter. We would drain it every few days into these massive steel “buckets” that would weigh about 40 pounds. Grab some towels and carefully carry out to the grease bin. Those were the general deep dryers. Done once a day. The high pressure ones for original recipe would be filtered every cycle. Drain it. Scrape off the sides to get rid of the goop. Filter it back up. And yeah every so often you had to scoop out some or the “cracklings” as we called it and give it to the gravy person. That was the crap left behind by filtering. The mashed potatoes and gravy was usually made by a 14 year old who could only work 3-4 hours. pretty sure we weren’t supposed to be doing some of this stuff at the ages of 16-17.
