I believe that's what they mean when they say "mansplaining"

Hate sharing their tweet b/c it's townhall but jeez Don..... this is bad.

Because of a small computer error in 1969, Apollo 12's third stage comes back to earth orbit every 30 years.

Tigers announce all midweek games start at 6:40. They started this a few years ago in April and September. It's tough for some people to get there by then but I guess they based it on "fan feedback".

Isn't Eminent Domain predicated on there being no other reasonable options for a development that serves a general public good, at least on paper? It has to be tied to a specific proposal, not just because something is not being done somewhere. Like building a factory but one guy with a shed won't sell for less than $8 million so he holds it up?

I don't think anybody here disagrees with you.

It's not a hill I would die on. Other things they are doing bother me way more. I guess I see it like the 10th should be normal, that's similar to the 5 min 4 on 4 OT in hockey. Do that, then the shoot out. Play the 10th, then do this in the 11th.

Pretty soon everywhere is going to be "STRONG"

I think Romad might appreciate this because we're around the same age, maybe a few others. In the 1993-1997 era, this kind of thinking was so prevalent on talk radio which was reaching it's peak. In Detroit we had Mark Scott pushing it. Limbaugh didn't quite get that far but you didn't have to spin the dial far to come across it. I dabbled in it a little but then you started to also see nazi stuff so I bolted. They might not have been sitting in the same pews at the church but they didn't kick them out either.

you don't say?

I don't understand the strategic dynamic it's supposed to add.

I wasn’t affected directly but having a 22 year old meant I have quite a few friends with kids there. Family in other states reached out because they weren’t sure if my son went there and wanted to check in.

Right. When legislators proudly wear gun pins on their suits and post for Christmas cards with their guns, one for each member of the family….

I recall hearing JV not directly complain about the Tigers health staff.... just that he went his own way on treatment after his issues in 2014/2015.
-
yeah, they wait for the first out before the IBB.
-
In the end I don't think this will change much for the average fan or viewer. Rich people will still get their money somehow.

Did anyone post her video from 2010 where she said states have the right to secede? Florida, you are on the clock.

and doing things in baseball like takeout slides and catchers not blocking the plate are fair game because it's about injuries and not an attempt to alter run scoring or player activity. The purpose behind it is completely different. Imagine in hockey if they said "Only 1 defender can be within 7 feet of the goalie. The left winger can't cross this imaginary line without the puck"
-
It's not an improvement. And hand checking and targeting are completely different. That relates to obstruction and impeding play of others in a contact sport, like letting a catcher use his glove to block a swing, or a hitter stand in the way of a C making a throw. A more correct analogy would be not allowing a defender to go beyond the 3 point line because they are too good at defending or not allowing more than 2 guys cover a specific receiver downfield. That's what baseball is doing. You are correct in one thing, players grow and the game evolves. These rules in baseball are an attempt to block that growth and evolution because they are combating that increase that comes from knowledge. There's nothing "weird" about allowing people to play smarter. It's ignorant to prevent it.
-
That is a feature of baseball that they don't. Don't be like other sports.

I despise shuttles. Nothing worse than being on a bus full of a bunch of fat drunk old men pissed off about the Lions. People in this region just will not do mass transit to the degree to make it financially stable. it's not in our culture. The Q Line is nothing but a subsidized tourist attraction. It serves no practical function for anyone that needs to get to work on time. I like being in control. I don't want to wait in line to get on something to take me somewhere else that I then have to drive home. I can leave my house today and be in my seat in 27 minutes. If I knew a train would be there every 7 minutes to drop me off a 1/2 mile from my house, yes I would use that. But that won't exist and I'm not moving for that reason.

I'm not a fan of them at all and I do follow that Terrible Ilitches facebook page. They should be redeveloping existing structures rather than tearing down and building new. That goes for anyone. That's my point. Leave the parking lots they have now as it is and fix what is above the ground sitting empty. They have the beautiful old Moose Lodge building on Elizabeth that could solve their problems but I guess that's not sexy or financially attractive. The new development we see in Detroit is ugly anyway.
-
I generally don't like that rule for the same reason I don't like the shift. I'm against regulation of players like that. Don't tell them where they are allowed to defend and don't dictate what position eligible players on the roster can play.

I mean.... if you want 50,000 people at Ford Field and 18,000 and LCA and an event at the Fox... where do you want them to park? Don't say Mass Transit because that's just not an option for the extreme majority of people. Anytime there's a big event at Ford Field whether it's a concert or Football game and something else is going on at the same time... it's a zoo.

I go back and forth on the mass of parking lots we now see in their "District Detroit". Aesthetically it looks bad obviously. They promised development. But when I go to a game or a concert at the Fillmore or Fox, they are pretty convenient. I grew to like the ability to book a spot ahead of time. I don't mind walking and will pick a spot a half mile away if it's $8 instead of $30 closer. Not a fan of parking structures and the congestion they provide. They now want to do some development work on the lots on Woodward in front of Comerica Park, and on a few of the bigger parcels along Cass. Of course they need help with it with subsidies. I don't know that it's a bad thing to have a bunch of parking lots behind the main corridor on Woodward.
