  1. Nope. I already had tickets anyway so I turned those in for Saturdays game. I do not have the tickets they were giving me. I had to get them from my rep before the game. They do that so nobody sells them or gives them away. It’s unfortunate especially when they began hyping this home stand but they are doing the right thing. Today’s forecast looks spotty so they need a large window to play. This evening is when they’re chances for T-storms so they want to avoid that.
  2. Man… i know why they moved it but that screws me up. I was picked to be fan of the game and would have had great seats. The whole family was going. Now nobody can go, I possibly could. By myself as fan of the game!
  3. Really the only difference between him and Mickey Redmond is just a few degrees. I don't look for objectivity in my home announcers. I want them rooting for my team and speaking about things from my perspective. I loved how sometimes he'd talk about Jim Price and they'd bust each other's balls.
  4. are the locals annoyed? Or just the outsiders?
  5. Maybe, depending on whether they got insurance and what kind. From what I could find online, he didn't technically retire. He was not medically cleared to play. During the off season he had to be on the 40 man, then when the season starts, transferred to the 60 day injury list. The Tigers were responsible for $6M each year, the Rangers for $18M. The Rangers got insurance that covered half of their end. That would be a nice break for the Tigers.
  6. I enjoyed Hawk. He was a character and baseball needs those.
  7. Whoever does their tweets, and their bosses, are having fun with this. There's more.
  8. I think stuff like that is just mastebatory for people already in the fold. They're cute but not changing anybody's minds.
  9. They contractually owe him the entire amount. They could do some kind of deferral with interest or whatever but there's no getting around to paying him what the contract says. They can cut him but would still have to pay.
  10. Every year I end up with 2-3 games PPD because of weather. It pretty much sucks until mid May. During the playoff years I could either be wearing shorts or hats/gloves.
  11. Yeah but don't forget about KC. They are on the road, albeit against washington. A 4-2 homestand is a must, 5-1 preferable obviously. **** it, sweep the Rays and keep it gravy. This team has supposed to have folded the last month and they haven't.
  12. sure hope the rain holds off. Doesn't look like a soaker but could be some thunder around. I will be there and also going Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
  13. This team is more fun to watch in a lot of ways than the 2012-2013 versions. That was station to station baseball. We had big guys on the bases that were easy to double up, wouldn't take the extra base. They were poor on defense. Yeah we had a couple of stud starters.... but our pitchers today aren't doing worse. And I put Skubal up there with those starters.
  14. I’m with Lee. I don’t need the playoffs to validate the season for me. They did that most of the year. The last month or so has been the best regular season action in a long long time. Maybe since 2011.
  15. I’ve gotten better kisses from women at church.
  16. That tweet thread brought out something I wanted to bring up in today’s game thread but it’s more fitting here. How perception of when a team wins and loses colors the view of many fans on how good that team is. A team that goes on a big run in May-July is seen as legit. That’s their bar. A deviation from that is seen as choking. A team like the Tigers are surging and get questioned on whether they can sustain it. It’s baseball. After 162 games you measure. A win in Sept is as legit as one in May. A 3-9 slump in September is not choking or collapsing. Maybe they just aren’t as good, the thing you’d say about a team that starts 16-12 but then goes 3-9. Tigers deserve all the credit for this. It’s not KC or MN giving it away. No more than them winning the WC was given to them by the Tigers because of their few weeks of bad baseball earlier this year.
  17. I remember Michael Kinsley making the argument 30 years ago. If you really thought abortion was murder then you have to support and encourage the killing of the doctors and mothers. I mean…. They are allegedly murdering what you consider babies that deserve full rights.
  18. MN/BOS postponed. Split DH tomorrow.
  19. They were not going to win every game and MN wasn’t going to lose every game.
  20. Chris trying to sound like one of the boys commiserating with the struggles of the game.
  21. That’s great. I saw tweets about it. My WW claim to fame is seeing Richard Schiff when we were all walking out. I said Hi and he nodded and he gave me the Toby look. Loved it.
  22. They got another one responsible for that a few weeks ago didn't they?
  23. I like that thinking.
  24. I was thinking about this, but I think it's a case of its answering a different question. It's not about making the playoffs, it's about which team is better.
  25. I'll leave it to the states to decide for themselves how to do this.... that's their right. But it seems to go against their interests doesn't it? I assume they did this to make sure they get some attention by the candidates. Imagine if TN allocated a vote out of Memphis?
