  1. My wife punked me on April Fool's way back when we were dating. In 1992 she was working with somebody who also was a 'dancer' at a Gentleman's Club. They were sort of friends. So on April Fool's she calls me to tell me she interviewed where "holly" worked. She played it off well. I asked "Did you have to take off your clothes?" she said "Well I lifted my shirt up, yeah..." That was when I went ballistic. I was 18, she was 19.
  2. I will get physically angry if I start seeing people discuss turnout and all the other numbers ahead of the vote counting for these elections tonight... yeah we saw that in November that it doesn't mean jack ****. Just wait until the votes are counted. No photos of "long lines" and all that crap.
  3. Remember a few years ago when we had like 10 no hitters in 10 days and all this stuff was being said…. I’m sure those numbers aren’t right but it felt like it
  4. sure, if you have a lot of debt then I think you should take care of that or at least not add to it. Where I come from is this attitude from the likes of a Dave Ramsey who calls people stupid for not doing things his way. Not everyone has the same goals in life. I also understand for many it's a hobby and they enjoy playing around with it and learning. There's no right or wrong answer. I'm focusing on the judgement aspect. Not unlike fitness instructors. We have one who thinks its all about building muscle mass and 'getting better'. For a lot of people in our classes they just want to move around, stay active, and be around people. They don't care about moving up to a higher weight. Mental health is just as important as what you can do physically. Running too. After the pandemic my goals changed. I accomplished what I wanted to, 5K's in under a certain time, a couple of half marathons. What I always aspired to was being able to just go out on a whim and run 7-8 miles. I can do that. I also don't deal with pain and all of that. If my hammie is bothering me or I'm getting a cramp, then walk for a minute. Better to run well while running than to screw up your gait and get hurt. Running is your own internal game and only you can tell the difference when you need to stop vs wantng to stop. Nothing beats the sensation of a finish line in a race.
  5. It reminds me of something I read over the weekend. There was one of those personal finance tiktoks or reals debating a particular strategy over 30 years. The difference was alleged to be about $100K by the time you are 65. One of the commenters defended it as possible for people who "don't waste money on vacations and new cars". I'm thinking.... what's the whole point then? There's a balance between planning for the future and the unexpeted and actually living your life in the present. My kids are 24 and 21 and we've went on vacation every year since 2005. If I invested that it would be well into six figures. But at what cost? Would I be better off? I never understood this fascination with making wealth building an almost religious undertaking. I know too many people who have died under the age of 70 for that to be my focus. I'm also fortunate enough to have enough to be casual about these things and still have something waiting for me in 11 years. I understand that. But I'm not going to sweat decisions i've made in the past to provide my family with entertainment and experiences.
  6. The national anthem will be that horrible Lee greenwood song
  7. And I enjoy writing. I have an attorney friend who uses it for briefs. But I still don’t trust it and I think for a creative element it’s good to be stuck and force yourself to figure it out. In terms of art I think struggling is a positive. For that I will point out the Godfather movies. For the first one Coppola was so stressed about proving himself that he made a masterpiece. For the second he was so stressed about proving it was his talent as much as Brando and Puzo and Pacino that he topped his masterpiece. For the third one everyone was fat, happy, and rich and just did it for the money.
  8. I will give HawkTuah credit for not going the Onlyfans route.
  9. “If they tag it as COVID they get more money”
  10. If you kill then before they die of cancer then there will be no cancer deaths.
  11. Being a thief is a feature not a bug with this admin.
  12. The scorecard kept by Tom Hanks last night.
  13. Many vehicles that we used to consider an SUV are now CUV's based on car platforms.
  14. There's a reason some companies stopped making sedans and smaller cars If they can't make a profit building them... then they won't build them. You don't just turn on a dime and convert a plant into something else. It costs billions.
  15. That's my probem with it... and with a lot of what a friend of mine called "Productivity porn" apps. You spend more time figuring out how to make it do something than you could have spent just doing it. Obviously people are using it so what do I know. I guess I'm one of those dinosaurs I made fun of 20 years ago when it comes to tech.
  16. as chas alluded to... in terms of the Catholic Church it can make sense. The ones who want to go back to the Latin mass and reject Vatican II are now seen as radical yet they are wanting to go back to the "good old days". I think Vance belongs to that type.
  17. I don't know whether this is true for the others but for French Connection they didn't get a permit. They didn't block streets. So many of the reactions are legit.
  18. I always take a day off in may and early October to just putz around yard. Move stuff around. Nothing that productive really. Just an excuse to be outside, cheaper than golf, and it makes me feel accomplished. Now I understand what my dad was doing.
  19. I have an old external Western Digital HD that crapped out. My son left it plugged in over the break and I think it burned up. I took it out and got a SATA cable and tried that, didn't work. Ordered another one from Amazon, the kind that looks more like a cartridge, still nothing. No spinning or anything like i hear on another HDD from my laptop that quit working years ago. I ordered that second SATA from Amazon a few weeks ago knowing it probably wouldn't work but they make returns so dang easy I had to do it. TOok it back to staples, she just tossed it in this giant box behind her with other crap. I don't know where that stuff goes, maybe Marhsall's or Big Lots? The drive thing is a pet peeeve for sure. Nothing on there I really need but I know there's some old VHS transfers that I forgot to copy over to my "real" backup drive. I thought I did. So who knows what else is on there I forgot. I can't assume the mantra I tell my wife "If you aren't looking for it then you dont need it". I haven't looked in it in years. My son is autistic like and insists on having it plugged in to look at photos, that are already on the hard drive of his laptop, but what are you gonna do... and yeah, that laptop has had it's hard drive replaced as even he gets frustrated with wait time! Hence the "Don't hit Computer" label on it.
  20. I found a setting in my MLB app that has 30 second delay for scoring change or end of game alerts. Last year I'd my watch buzzes with 2 strikes and 2 outs in the ninth.
  21. Shawn Fain was slobbing all over Trump's nob yesterday
  22. I will miss that while seeing the Wings go up 1-0 early then lose 4-1. Pretty sure twice in the last week I get the alert the other team scored, and when I almost immediately switch over, they've scored another!
  23. But that's just a cover. He needs a W-2 for the Feds.
  24. Fox2 just did a story on it and you could see the seats are in now. Doesn't look too different in my opinion. Just bigger seats.
  25. I’m bummed a little but I also don’t mind missing a 2-0 loss where Skubal gives up 0 runs over 6.
