Remember when the House had the impeachment inquiry and they had a "whistleblower"? I mean... I'm sorry but if refuting false statements and faking fun of ridiculous opinions is "bullying" then I question the validity and strength of those opinions to begin with. The fact is the right wing as it existed 10 years ago no longer exists. It's been replaced by fringe elements with extremist views.

I can't believe one action at one company can cause such havoc.... of course yes, I can believe it. But it shouldn't be that way. The race to the bottom continues.

2024 Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion
oblong replied to LongLiveMaroth's topic in Detroit Tigers
last night when leaving the concert the marquis on the Fox had a graphic of Skubal saying "It's Skoob Time" and encouraging you to buy tickets. They are not trading Skubal. Not because of what I saw but because he's as close to a franchise player they have right now. -
Someone said Grindr refers to the RNC as their "super bowl"

I think the main thing is to remove the stigma of NOT going to college and pursuing trades or anything else. And college doesn't have to be expensive if you choose to do that. What I resent too is this idea that a kid at the age of 17-18 has to "figure it out". I took longer than 4 years because I didn't know what I wanted to do and refused to get sucked into some trap. Yes, I did **** around my first year in college but I went to a strict HS and the freedom got the best of me... oh well. I was 17/18. I don't apologize for it. A few friends would mock me as a slacker (The Tommy Boy joke about a lot of people going to college for 7 years, they're called doctors, was a common one) but I knew I had the rest of my ilfe ahead of me and now I am blessed to have a good paying job. I took some risks and did some low level work early on in my career but made the connections and that got me to where I am. I know people I graduated with who weren't as fortunate and wasted a lot of money. But hey.... they graduated from college in 4 years! I also think there's a misconception that everybody who goes to college is getting some stupid degree that's not relevant to finding a job. No. A lot of the student loan forgiveness is for people who took noble but low paying jobs because we collectively as a society decided those don't pay as well, but they are just as important as yours or mine. Value isn't always what the bottom line rewards, especially service type jobs. Social Workers... teachers.... that kind of thing. And some of these recipients were victims of predatory practices, like racking up tens of thousands of debt from a for profit university when they could have gotten the same certification from a community college for little to nothing, only to get a job as a nurses aid or medical assistant making $20 an hour. I have no issues with helping those people out. If the government is giving handouts away I'd rather it go to them than some millionaire or corporation.

So they got $354M in donated media, and doled out $351M in donated media? I think I know the answer... but what is donated media? I guess I see that as a wash.

I liked the immediate few months after it started when we didn't have to go anywhere, then it got warm so we could go somewhere as long as it was outside.

I heard JD said he wants a national abortion ban because otherwise George Soros would send "black women" to California for abortions.

Blackrock used a bunch of high school kids as background for a commercial. There was no "relationship". And the shooter didn't waltz in anywhere.... he was outside of the security perimeter. He didn't have to go through any security or metal detectors at that point.

I never bothered with indiviual stocks other than a "token" investment in a company I might be working for. The reason is I figure by the time I am aware of some information that would help.... the insiders and experts have already figured it out and I missed the opportunity.

My memory is they were at a hotel or in a suite and were not shown until the official nomination then they would come out with their families and wave or have shots of them in their suite or hotel.

I’m watching X-Men Days of future past. We decided to dive into these movies about 10 days ago. Very entertaining

That can all be washed away with a strong convention that’s unifying. And it will be. There can’t be floor fights. Biden will get a rousing ovation as he passes the baton. Then the age and congnitive issues shift to Trump and the media will ignore it.

For the first time I’m starting to believe it’s more likely he’s not going to be the nominee.

MLB Possibly open to allowing trading of Draft Picks
oblong replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Tigers
I think it would be cool and it makes sense and helps, I think, the smaller teams. But I also think that it would become something that quickly dies down. Meaning.... the nature of these picks is so random and even the top picks are not yet impact players that teams may not be so willing to make deals after awhile. -
By the time the space shuttle development came about in the 70's NASA didn't have unlimited funding like they pretty much did on Mercury/Gemini/Apollo. So much of the work on those programs involved building things just to support the work... like in the case of the SRB's they would have just built a transportation system that would have fit their preferred requirements. And Thoikol's SRB's are what led to Challenger. NASA and senior managers didn't listen to the engineers. This is a great story.

that's how I felt about the 70's sports guy. I unfollowed as it was just recycled tweets and constant use of buzzwords like 'goddamn' and 'heater'. Just stopped being funny to me. It was a good concept but gets stale.

Regarding uniforms... there was controversy in the 60s with regards to the stirrup. In particular the Latin and Black players began cutting their socks to show more of the stirrup that they would wear over their sanitary socks. The old timers and traditionalists at the time didn't like that. Jim Bouton talked about this in Ball Four. Eventually most players in the 70s and 80s displayed the long narrow stirrup. The ironic part of course is fast forward 30-40 years and once again the traditionalists are complaining about them NOT wearing the uniform the way that the "flashy" players in the 60's started doing it.

I was at that game too.

You are not. And I feel the same way at Tiger games for other things.

I like these uniforms. Especially the AL. I never felt a need to buy one but that are cool.
