I never got it either. Seemed to have never worked. I can’t recall an instance where that play was successful.

Seems like during the Leyland/Lamont years they ALWAYS went on contact from 3B.

I enjoy following the gang at NR that I used to soak up to see the path they took in a Trump world that took over the former conservative movement. Guys like Byron and Lowry went one way while Goldberg and Nordlinger went another. I don’t count Kristol in that mix because he seemed to jump sides whereas Jonah and Jay will still stick up for previously held conservative positions. It’s a good sanity check for me.

considering these two moves happened within a day of the season ending it seems obvious he's got something going beyond these two moves.

All an owner can do is hire people and let them do their job and spend when called upon and get rid of those executives when they show to not be doing their job. Has Chris not shown that ability? Yeah, he didnt "go after" Ohtani. Get real. On one hand people are complaining about Baez and his contract and on the other people are complaining about the owner being cheap. The team has made significant behind the scenes improvements and hired expensive people in the front office, the kind of hires that most fans would never know happened, and I throw in Jason Benetti in that conversation. If Chris just wanted to bank the cash from owning an ML team he wouldn't have approved those hires. Take a look at the media guide and you can see who they are.

I know it's nitpcking but I don't think of the 2006 team that way. The 2012 team, yes. But that version in franchise lore over achieved in my opinion. Yes, I said it.

On that front I get flyers now from Justin Amash. While his anti trump stance was admirable... nobody cares about the patriot act anymore. That's his selling point, some ancient 22 year old legislation. It was just boilerplate "Individual Liberty", "LImited Government", "Free Markets". What, is this 1995?

Especially since Nick looked at him with a blank stare as if he never saw him before in his life. remember in the sopranos when Paulie ran into Carmine Sr who had no idea who he was?

Take this series for what it is. A no lose chance to see the best team in baseball and some characters. I had sweep penciled in all along.

McKinsey having a good game.

Agree with that. And the fact he hit 30 last year shows he's capable. I wonder how often teams talk with each other in regards to how they work with players. Like talking shop.

this is what has led to a lot of the frustration I think for fans. Without any quotes from the front office or coaches, aside from Hinch in his sponsored radio ads, it makes everything think they aren't doing anything. But... they don't need the media.

2024 Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion
oblong replied to LongLiveMaroth's topic in Detroit Tigers
that trade proposal written by a Mets person or someone writing from that perspective? You don't trade Flaherty unless it makes the major league team better in 2024 and 2025. I'm done with prospects. That goes for Skubal too. -
I've always wanted to retire to someplace warm but I really am considering politics in where ever I go.... but who am i kidding? I'll probably go wherever my son goes, if he goes anywhere. TN was always a dream because of my family there but I'm really only close to a handful that's left and 3 of those are over 70. And politically it's a **** hole.

The media has done a poor job explaining this. These astronauts are not in any danger above what’s normal. The reason for the delays is due to things they want to check out in the service module, which burns up in the atmosphere so this is their only chance to learn. They could return right now if required. But that analysis and other ISS objectives has moved the optimal return window.

I’m one of the few I think who likes Maher. His podcast is good. I like long interviews. People on the left and the right get mad at him sometimes. Good.

That sounds about right. I didn’t get a 486 for that reason but they were definitely around. It served me well for a few years.

It was. I was thinking about the future. I only went there once after a game but it was for music so I wanted to see if it was a regular bar bar or a “only open when music” kind of bar. In the Woodbridge area by Trumbull and 94.

Regarding Keith’s contract. Look at it from the other side of the table. How many players of his rank coming up would take a similar deal? Is he unique in taking it? Is this something other teams would love to do more of with certain prospects?

What a weird thing to say. Hopefully things are ok. I know they can’t speak to certain personal matters but it was an odd choice of words.

It’s 9:41 pm and I went to the game. Took a detour home up Cass to see if a bar i liked was open. Got home. And typing this. Not a fan of the 6:40 games. It was broad daylight walking out of the game. The fireworks, which were cancelled would have been let off when it’s not dark out.

I don't think in this day and age, outside of markets like NY or Boston, that orgs have to lay this groundwork anymore. I'm not saying you can't be right... just that I don't think they need to do that. I never claim to be an expert on anything.

Hasn't tweeted in 4 years. Last tweet was July 2020 about Casey Mize. Maybe Verlander forced him into the witness protection program. He had Fister run out of town.
