Everthing I learned about football came from that game. We weren't a football family so didn't watch much and the Lions didn't offer much incentive outside of Billy Sims. My older sister and her husband had it so I would play it when at their house.

To carryover the discussion from the MLB team on comparisons of this team vs the good teams we had last decade, this could be looked at as something chas has often talked about. Stars/Scrubs. Outside of Skubal I don't see this team as having many stars, if at all. But those other teams seemed to always have glaring holes. We'd get guys on then you see "Everett/Inge/Laird" coming up.... Looking at BR's page, of the 16 position players listed, 12 have an OPS+ of 99 or higher. Of those below that only Malloy has had significant playing time.

The news stories make it sound like Kane is on a trial or game to game basis so I wonder if preparation is part of his issues? And it could just simply be cost. He could be cheaper than the other guys and at this point quality has to suffer if the money can work. Is anybdy cancelling or not watching b/c of it?

During one of the playoff seasons I had seats right off the aisle in the upper deck. Some lady came and squatted next to me. She was dressed…. Well… leather skirt. Nice too. They gotta cut costs and 75 years of experience is probably expensive. I watch more of the network during hockey season than I do baseball to be honest. Just circumstancial due to being stuck inside for winter. I will miss those guys.

I didn't say it wasn't. I'm just pointing out that comparing 12 years to basically 1 and saying the 12 years was "more fun" because they had more success isn't valid. You can't use examples from 2006 and 2012 seasons and say "that team" because they're different teams and eras.

It's not an apples to apples comparison though. Yes from 2006 to 2017 we had some great memories. That's 12 seasons to draw from. Really the only guy from 2006 that was contributing anything by 2011 was Verlander. It wasnt the same team. I group the team like this historically: 2006-2007. A great season and a half that marked the revival of Tiger baseball. Injuries did the 2007 team in but they had the best MLB record at the ASB. This will always be special for die hard Tiger fans. 2008-2010. Meh. 2009 was good because they were in a bad division but the tie breaker game was a stinker. The guys from the previous era are breaking down. 2011-2014. A mini revival marked by shakey bullpens and a team that ultimately fell short. The two best players we'll ever see in a Tiger uniform in their prime. 2015-2017. Hanging by a thread but if we're being honest it was fumes. 2018-2021. What? It all runs together. (Nick Ramirez was our 10th best player in 2019. No, I don't remember him either) 2022-Present. A rebuild of the entire org that's showing fruit and gave us some very exciting baseball for almost a full season. Things are moving in the right direction, but slowly. No expectations until now.

They were tied with the White Sox when we left our final home game on a Tuesday night before a road trip. The Sox went in a spiral and we finished 3 games up on them.
