He will be about a mile from me in about an hour.... It's a restaurant owned by a Lebanese guy.

There's nostalgia for sure but the last few years when he started working playoff games on MLB Network I wasn't a fan. He lived too much in the past.... he came across as a broadcaster who hasn't done a game in 30 years and assumed his audience hasn't watched a game in 30 years. He'd say things like "the game is a lot more global now" and once made a reference to Albert Belle. He kind of reminded me of Mitch Albom... someone who pops in every once in a while in a sport but doesn't have the recent knowledge that a regular sports writer would. A Lions column written today referencing Scott Mitchell for example.

Totally. Despite the anti trump fever in 2020 there were still quite a bit of people who had the “this is the best we can do?” that no longer think that. Niki Haley was right during the primary when she said whichever side replaced their old guy would win. Despite being on the ticket as VP I think Harris is going to pull in black and female voters that didn’t vote previously for various reasons. That’s just a gut feeling.

my comment had nothing to do with Winfrey. It was more of a response to the tweet about Georgia surpassing numbers "at this point" in 2020. I don't understand why that's newsworthy.

early vote numbers don't tell me much, by themselves, at this point because it just means people are more used to it and maybe voting centers are better at doing it and word gets around how easy it is. In 2020 early voting was politicized to a degree it's not today. Yea some R's still grumble about it but they're doing it more than they did in 2020. You also have the covid angle where the macho/dont tell me what to do/masking is for wimps crowd thinking EV was once again something overly cautious sheep did and real men vote on election day. Obviously turnout could be higher this year, it wouldn't shock me and I expect it, but it's not the early vote numbers that is proving that to me that right now. I don't see it as evidence of anything yet.

What is the suggestion on the dragging of the leg? Is that some kind of potential mental deficiency causing it or just an inability to walk? The latter by itself is not disqualifying but the former could be.

My sister is about your age and she has trouble sleeping too.

Are you aware of the context of her mentioning the bear? I think it was about a year ago this big discussion hit the internet. If you were hiking in the woods would you rather encounter a man or a bear? Men said a man. Most women immediately said a bear. I think its easier to understand as a man if you ask them who would you rather have your wife or daughter encounter?

Unrelated to the Arab vote I think she'll outpace Harris.

I wanted to roll in the hay with her in Mr. Mom and I was like 10.... So great on Letterman too. Casting her as Phoebe's mom on Friends was genius as that character is her spiritual daughter.... I mean if Friends were made in 1977 that's who'd you cast, right?

the talking point is that he was referring to the comedian as garbage... "supporter's" vs "supporters". It's hard to tell because his sentence was a mess when you read it.

I’m assuming those deep cuts include SpaceX?

I don’t worry about that as much as I do just him winning outright. If she prevails I think we will see whining but nothing concrete. There will be no Jan 6 type insurrection. There will be protest votes and speeches, like we saw in 2017 but they will go nowhere.

I was in TN over the weekend and one of my tasks was visiting the various cemeteries our family members are buried in. These go back 170 years. Always blown away by the number of infants you see and yes in some cases you see an infant and mother with same day or close enough dates of death you know that’s what happened. Part of that was simply being so isolated that you couldn’t get quality care but most of the time it was related to either lack of birth control or other options for high risk pregnancies. There’s a reason you didn’t see those headstones after the 1950s.

I did too. Was there around 2

I don’t think anybody knows anything with regard to EV numbers. There’s very little precedent to justify assumptions being made.

Gorsuch is an odd duck. He’d vote to seal his own death if he found some obscure writing somewhere in a libertarian journal to support it.

When my wife told her mom she was surprised she didn’t vote early, mother in law said “I want to make sure my vote counts”

I think people who “go back and forth” are the hidden Harris voters. They just don’t want to admit it to others because they were trump voters.

For you level. That’s awesome

That comedian should avoid going above the 2nd floor in any building.

Road 111 goes from Chattanooga thru my family’s north of there but goes a bit east. Will be interested to know your route. One of favorite part of my trips down there is when I get off I-75. I will say this about our southern friends. It’s immediately evident how nice they are. I stop every 90 minutes to 2 hours and every person I encounter says hello and is gracious.

I’ve been in TN since Friday. Just got back tonight. On the drive down and back I was shocked by the lack of Trump signs. Not saying they didn’t exist but I got off I-75 in KY and head southwest on the smaller highways for 3 hours and you see lots of country. Lots of political signs for locals but no large displays for Trump. Make of that what you will. No I am not suggesting KY or TN turn blue. Just speaking to overall enthusiasm.

Vance converted to Catholicism a few years ago under the guidance of a very extreme sect of Catholics, Opus Dei.

I don't think that's a function of pay. That's because there's an abundance of jobs at that level and retail workers can now have more flexibility in finding the job that fits their schedule and desire. Rather than pay 2 people to stand behind a register to just input things into a register and ask dumb questions, those 2 people can make the food, clean up, gather the food, etc. When I worked retail it was a pain in the butt handling a customer at the register because it took me away from something else I was doing, like stocking shelves or whatever. People aren't out there crying because they can't work at McDonald's anymore. They're working somewhere else, or they retired, or they realized after covid they didn't need the extra money it brought in. It's really no different than not having gas station attendents pump our gas. Once they realize customers can do it themselves then why pay people to do it?
