  1. I was thinking more about you not being alone, I think we're in the same boat. So maybe we're in the minority. I had this team pegged at a "If things go well they could win 85-87 games" Things aren't going well enough to justify that. I'm not surprised by that. I am surprised by some hitting woes but I am also surprised by the starting pitching, even Skubal. That's baseball.
  2. That's a name I haven't heard in 20 years. I read several of his books, including the title here, back in the day.
  3. I will see your banning women pastors and raise you a banning IVF. These people have lost their minds.
  4. I saw video of that. He ran on the field and did a backflip right in front of security. I have no issue with him being tased. You run on the field you put people in danger. Any risk is something he accepted by trespassing. He got what he deserved.
  5. I've yet to see anybody outside of the media, and Trey Gowdy on Fox, question this prosecution.
  6. THere doesn't need to be a tank type rebuild. I think Scott's team is good enough so that the team will always be around .500, like we have now. I just hope they are working through the hitting issues properly and if these guys struggles are due to coaching and approach then that gets addressed. It seems kind of hard to be this bad at the plate across the board without it being structural but what do i know?
  7. There was the talk about building their new analytics center (project Caesar) and he brought in Sartori and Mezin, who are still around. He hired Ryan Garko.
  8. You are not in the minority. Avila may have done things behind the scenes, and bringing in some guy that means you can't call it a total waste, but in terms of ML development... yeah. These players just aren't that good.
  9. If they had such strong convictions they wouldn't cover their faces. They need to be punished. Somehow.
  10. It’s nice to see the right be so harsh on gun laws.
  11. I wouldn't put it past Biden to ignore the political side of this and strictly deal with this as a parent who loves his son, as he's not been afraid to express, but politically it doesn't hurt him to see a family deal with someone who's got addiction. Nearly every family is touched by it and if the right wants to make fun of that then they do it a their own peril, especially in the red part of the country because I'd bet the addiction numbers are higher in rural than urban.
  12. I stumbled across a "boomer" focused Detroit sports page and.... man are they not fans of Jason Benetti. Which means he's doing a great job.
  13. I got an alert on the MLB app on a story where so far 24 of their "experts" gave him the Cy Young.
  14. and they did this just to get that reponse so they could put it on twitter and make this claim.
  15. and that is what drives them crazy. But they will try to spin this as "well if the son of the POTUS is a felon then it's no big deal if the President is a felon"
  16. He wouldnt go out for the anthem because he was a Jehovah's Witness. Same with Chet Lemon. They don't do that.
  17. No mandatory military service. I'm not opposed to mandatory service but that is a very broad definition... serving your community in some way. coach a team. officiate in a sports league. Run the clock or scorebook. Be a crossing guard. Meals on wheels. work in a food pantry.
  18. ugh.... I knew Maeda would Mike Pelfrey for me.... meaning every time I go he pitches. My third game with him this season.
  19. It will. I assume that Boston "started" this with their Marathon Monday jerseys, which to me is very cool. The Boston Marathon is a huge deal and they always play an early game that day so it "connects" them with one of the things their city is most famous for. It was natural and organic. But when greed takes over and teams are forced to "connect" with their city then it fails.
  20. These clowns can't differentiate between hostages and prisoners.
  21. 11 teams, out of the other 29, have won more games, 12 have lost fewer. No, I wouldn't call them "good" but I don't think they warrant the beating they get here after a loss. People act like they are the 2003 Tigers sometimes. They are on the the middle of the pack.
  22. That's baseball. Every team has warts and failings when they are around .500. that's why they are a .500 team.
  23. I'm just struggling to understand why a person would feel the need to minimize this. What is there to gain in doing so?
  24. It was. I read a book about it's recovery called Bringing Columbia Home. Columbia was a bit different than Challenger in one way. Tile damage was a known defect on these missions. The controversey was the management's disregard of the problem once it was noticed on that mission. But it's also not clear what could have been done to save them at that point. A rescue mission is pretty much science fiction with a million things having to go right just to have a chance. Prepping a shuttle launch takes time, plus you have crew training to go through. It's not just a car you hop in and drive away. There were limited resources aboard columbia. Later on after resuming missions they did have a standby mission ready in case they had to do it but it was complex. The Shuttle also couldn't dock with the ISS while they figured it out. Not enough fuel to do that. The only realistic option would have been trying to alter their reentry to avoid as much as possible the contact on the affected area. And tragically.... they could have allowed the families to sort of 'say goodbye' as they tried it. But as the doc explains.... leadership didn't think there was a problem to solve.
