  1. And he nearly hit a home run in last night's game lol....
  2. I'm not surprised they are drawing ire.... I'm just saying that Spencer is taking the lions' share of it. When Riley looks worse currently. It's part "box score scouting", but also just working off last year's notes.
  3. Her certainly looks a lot closer than Greene at the moment, yet draws most of the ire it seems like
  4. Craig Monroe caught on hot mic actually being critical lol
  5. Man, Akil needed a good game!
  6. Lorenzen is basically as advertised.... just doesn't have great command and it shows. Belongs in the bullpen, no accident that's where he's been most of his career
  7. It's cynical, but his age (and the fact that she would be a chief rival in a theoretical contested primary) and how she has been used the past couple of years makes some sense.... wouldn't surprise me now that Biden has declared and more or less cleared the field of any viable challengers if they give her more to do.
  8. I also think we need to put things in perspective - this is likely at best a low-mid 70s win team and we are coming off of a 2022 where one of their most consistent starters was Drew Hutchison.... there are concerns here no doubt, particularly if the injury bug comes back in a big way, but I don't think they are any worse off than in 2022 rotation wise. If they (ie. Fetter and Co.) could manage to piece things together during 2022 and keep the wheels from flying completely off the cart, I think they can manage with the pieces they have right now to keep things somewhat in-line this year as well.
  9. Innings limits on starters during the first few weeks of the season. It's been a pattern throughout all of the minor league teams within the system regardless of start quality.
  10. Credit to Silver on this one.... one of many perplexing moments from the 2022 Midterm Cycle for the Analyst class
  11. Don't necessarily disagree with the overall point, but the degree to which innings are performance based versus organizational directive, especially with it being April, is unclear
  12. I think this is right... The reality, and something that the media doesn't seem to get even after the surprise of the 2022 Midterms, is that a portion of Biden's disapproval being about his age makes that a soft disapproval and doesn't automatically mean those folks are voting Republican. I know a few folks personally who fall into this category - they will be racing to the ballot box to vote against Trump next time around. Biden's age just isn't a factor
  13. Skubal is throwing a bullpen soon, so that is potentially one guy to add back into the mix at some point relatively soon. But I agree with the overall point... would not surprise me if Eggbert gets some starts as well at some point
  14. The Tigers and Guardians are now equal in the loss column lol
  15. Gotta say, Mea Culpa to Fetter, The Saint of Bullpens. Two weeks ago, I doubted, and I was wrong.
  16. He did... that ball to Voit was ridiculous
  17. I thought this chart was interesting... Tigers fall squarely into the lower left... the White Sox being upper right is eye opening
  18. This is right, and it manifested itself in a number of realms - both political and on COVID. It really got, and continues to be, old to have NYC resident Nate Silver pontificating to many of his readers who don't live on the coasts about what "Real Americans" think. Or hearing him talk about COVID experience from his POV when it didn't necessarily match the experience of everyone in the country. The nuts and bolts of what he has done on data is extremely valuable and I don't hold him in as low of regard as I do as The Cook Political Report set (ie. Wasserman, Walter), but the site has been a lower priority than in the past because of that and just the tendency of the journalism there to be a bit repetitive.
  19. Honestly, the SF series kinda looms large in how I view them versus 2022.... You cannot convince me that last year's team, at least as they were in the first half of last year, wouldn't have folded like a cheap tent in either of those two wins against the Giants.
  20. RFK Jr. literally owes his entire existance to his last name. He's the real life embodiment of Connor Roy from Succession.... as much as some folks wishcast him mattering, it's exceedingly more likely that his campaign will have the same impact that Kanye 2020 did: Zero.
  21. A couple of points: they are walking at a decent clip, at least compared to some of their worst months in 2022. And compared to 2022, their BABIP is lower, so they may be getting somewhat unlucky. But on the whole, eye test, I would say "it's better, but they still suck" is a good way to characterize them compared to 2022. At least at the moment.
  22. The questions about defense, IMO, are a good argument to keep Malloy down for the time being. Because it's a double edged sword: while his offensive production at AAA is tantalizing, he alone will not fix the Tigers offense. And so long as the Tigers offense is struggling, the Tigers will need to pitch and play good defense in order to put wins in the win column. I don't know that he's far off, but Malloy is way too young to be penciling into a DH spot....
  23. Riley needs a day off tomorrow... it's not working at the moment
