Negotiations always start somewhere. My guess is that Harris opened the door and Boras said Skubal is going to test the open market, which is what Boras almost always does. My point was that I do not believe Harris made any offer to appease the fans, to "look like he tried." My hunch is that Harris did this to let them know Detroit would love to have him stay there for his next contract. Boras likely said there will be no early extension.
In no way do I believe Harris made a low-ball offer 2 years prior to free agency, to appease the fans. Whatever the offer was, I don't believe it was made to make him look good to fans. That's not Harris' style
I think Harris sticks to his plan. I doubt he would make a low-ball offer to appease fans. I do expect Harris and Greenberg to come up with a legit offer within their plan and either make that offer or trade Skubal.
I agree, but the Yankees are currently the last wc team and they are 4.5 behind Detroit. The Red Sox and Mariners are both 2 games behind Detroit. 44 games remain.
I expect Detroit to right the ship, but at this point I will not be surprised if they fall out of the playoffs

I agree, that may be the greatest single season ever for a pitcher. But it's also important to factor in the higher-mound era as a context. Juan Marichal actually had 2 more complete games that year (30). He averaged 8.6 innings per start, while Gibson averaged nearly 9. But again, I do agree. And of course, Koufax had an amazing run just prior to 1968
I believe Pedro Martinez had even better seasons during his amazing 5-year run. Pedro's era was more than a full run less than any other pitcher in baseball.
I use youtube, mostly for music and sports, and Facebook to keep in touch with old friends. I am also on linkedin, but none of the other apps like Instagram, x or tiktok.
I wish Dickerson was full time tv. Great to see Matt V take em home tonight. I'll never forget last season in their run, when Vierling scored and popped up waving his fist. They need his energy right now. Excellent win!
