Agree, I’m sure you would agree that doesn’t mean the team should make roster decisions based on fan nostalgia.
You’re perfectly right as a fan to be disappointed that JV won’t end his career here in a Tigers uniform. I liked him when he was here, too. But I also like that Harris is leading us from that era, which is long, long over, into a new one led by today’s and tomorrow’s stars, not yesterday’s stars.
If I had to guess what one big consideration would be, based on everything I’ve read about JV over the years, it’s that Harris would not want a player like him coming into and acting like a huge ****ing prima donna in our carefully-constructed young clubhouse—especially a guy who’s old, hurt, and not pitching even halfway decently.
