  1. Does this mean A.J.'s intent is more about politics than it is about trying to win?
  2. Cynical take. I don't think so.
  3. We talk about the games that start with Tyler Holton or Beau Brieske or Alex Faedo as being "bullpen games", but that's not really what they are, are they? A bullpen game is one in which we waste seven pitchers going one to two innings apiece in a bid to rest starters. But really, isn't what we have are doing actually "opener" games, in which A.J. puts a bullpen arm out there based on whatever seems to be the best matchup against the first time through the top of or completely through this particular order, and then we bring long guys Maeda or Sammons or Hurter to come in during the second and then chow innings until the seventh or so? I think A.J.'s strategy is to get a good start against a time first time through the order while hopefully we can steal a run or two ourselves and take an early lead. Please forgive me if this has already been reported, but I haven't seen anything written about it in this precise vein, so, sorry for the Captain Obvious routine here.
  4. Remembering how you said you need to shorten certain words to initials to save wear and tear on your arthritic fingers, I thought I would help out and lengthen this one for you for clarity’s sake. You’re welcome. 😉
  5. Seeing these early batting averages on his baseball card, I went to look up Don’s Reference page, which I never had before. I did not realize he was a 10-win player for his first five years with an OPS+ near 100, and that he was also capable of 12 to 14 bombs a year. I remember him only from the tail-end of his career and when it came to hitting, I always thought of his hitting as being indistinguishable from that of Ray Oyler.
  6. If the batting practice pitcher was just out of baseball himself and sore because of it, maybe batters would have had to wear a helmet!
  7. This was back when 30 was the new 40.
  8. Maybe he means only Confederate statutes and monuments.
  9. I’m not sure people receiving the email necessarily make that distinction. I didn’t.
  10. I suppose as long as the new normies-for-Kamala outnumber new red-hats-for-Trump, it’s a net gain.
  11. I’m wondering whether top Republicans endorsing Harris will drive even more red hats to the polls as they decide they need to do their part to save the country from Democrat Party communists and their running dog RINOS. If Trump were to not highlight that in his messaging, then he and that whole campaign would be asleep at the wheel.
  12. I think the director of the commercial made a brilliant choice by having the cop character speak very quietly and in a calm and measured way, versus having him bark and rage at the dad and daughter characters, which would have made him come off almost like a cartoon southern sheriff. The cold, calculated way he detailed the charges for which he was arresting them was very chilling, like it was matter-of-fact business, and that, to me, feels even scarier.
  13. Sounds a little like whistling past the graveyard.
  14. I wouldn’t think an oligarchical venture capitalist would be for any of those things.
  15. We're all cackling about this and we all like it when someone shoves it right up Trump's ass, but I'm trying to figure out what the 4-D chess here is, meaning, saying the quiet part about the Trump microphone strategy out loud. It feels like this could backfire on the Harris campaign, although I'm not really sure about whether or how. I'm guessing the campaign game-planned it all out before releasing it.
  16. If/when Bush and Romney come out for them, I'll be super impressed.
  17. The Rule of It Only Takes One.
  18. As I said: today's Republican Party.
  19. 15.1 WAR pace.
  20. I don't know how you feel about it, but I find it beyond incredible that one of the most lucrative industries in America is also humping people for donations. This came in my email today.
  21. Kennedy is from Los Angeles? 😏
  22. When it comes to today's Republican Party, Kennedy is a feature, not a bug. What was really striking to me is how much Kennedy pushed everything onto Cavuto: "Hey, man, I'm just here telling the truth, you're the one with the problem who can't deal with it." This is essentially an entire party that is borderline on the spectrum that has not a shred of emotional intelligence. In fact, emotional intelligence is basically considered airy fairy horseshĭt by an entire party that wants to go back to a time where people would settle their differences by socking you in the nose. You know, when America was great.
  23. I came from a family of six boys and a girl, so there may be something to this. West Euro may be kind of broad because my impression of ancient to middle ages European cultural history is that the Germanic tribes are themselves very direct and not the type to pussyfoot around issues. I may have that wrong, though.
  24. I had plenty of women bosses throughout the 1980s into the 2010s. I never thought I had preconceived notions going into the relationship, and yet, they were always the bosses I had the most trouble with. I believe it was in part my fault, because I am borderline on the behavioral spectrum and from a family of seven kids, which manifests in my case in directness, honesty, and audio volume; and in part their fault, since their presumed emotional intelligence did not extend to an understanding of people who are borderline on the behavioral spectrum.
