Shades of Deivi Cruz Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Poor pirate lady has nearly been killed by Carol twice now, and she will still have to be nice to her. 1 Quote

I have strong speculation about what happens next but I can’t say because I am two eps behind and don’t want to spoil it for people coming in behind me. Also, can I just tell you: I have graduated from a 59” 1080p TV from 2010 with a 30hz refresh rate to a 2025 65” 4K TV with a 120hz refresh rate and, I gotta tell ya, talk about night and day difference. The smoothness of motion and the 4K filming make it look as close to live as I could ever have imagined. Quote

IdahoBert Posted Wednesday at 04:18 AM Posted Wednesday at 04:18 AM The fifth episode of Pluribus dropped two days early, apparently to not conflict with Thanksgiving Day in the US which is sort of weird but oh well. I haven’t watched it yet. I’ll watch it tomorrow with my son when he gets off work. Quote
chasfh Posted Wednesday at 01:08 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:08 PM I am now caught up with all of you. I typically don’t like sci-fi, but to me this is the right kind of Twilight Zonesque sci-fi, relying less on whiz-bang alien technology and more on alien societal structure. The ethical and moral issues it raises regarding Carol’s reactions and responses, not to mention allegory of the efficacy of a welfare-based society on personal happiness, fascinates me. 1 Quote
oblong Posted Wednesday at 05:51 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:51 PM Good because I watched the trailer and I am completely lost. I forgot everything. That was 3 years ago. 1 Quote

IdahoBert Posted Thursday at 12:22 AM Posted Thursday at 12:22 AM The new Pluribus was pretty incredible episode five. And then four episodes tonight of Stranger Things, followed by three more on Christmas, then a two hour movie on New Year’s Day which apparently is going to be showing in theaters simultaneously, if that’s the way you’d like to experience it. oblong Posted Thursday at 01:31 AM Posted Thursday at 01:31 AM There’s no way I can keep up. I know I will love pluribis but I want my wife to watch other me. This is not the week. We started Ted Lasso last week and love it. 30 minute shows are so ideal. Quote
Edman85 Posted Thursday at 03:31 AM Posted Thursday at 03:31 AM The voice on the phone in Pluribus sounded familiar. And I was right about who it was. Quote
oblong Posted Thursday at 03:47 AM Posted Thursday at 03:47 AM Ok got her to watch the first episode. She loved it. Quote
IdahoBert Posted Thursday at 07:10 AM Posted Thursday at 07:10 AM Watched the first 3 1/2 hours of the first set of Stranger Things final season tonight with my son and he was the one who suggested that we hold off and watch the fourth episode on Thanksgiving day. It was so riveting it felt more like a couple hours instead of 3 1/2 hours. It’s quite incredible and they are accelerating the narrative and bringing all the strands together for the climax that is supposed to happen on New Year’s Day after three more episodes drop on Christmas. I’m fortunate to have a nerd for a son who has grown up with this program and who rewatched the entire series in the last month - all four previous seasons. So he was able to keep me on the straight narrow in terms of knowing what was going on because I don’t live and breathe this stuff as he does. Also watched episode five of Pluribus with him too so today it was kind of a TV day after he got off work. Quote

oblong Posted Thursday at 11:20 PM Posted Thursday at 11:20 PM I read a thing where they surprised her with it. She made it thru the scene then broke out laughing. Quote
oblong Posted Friday at 09:46 PM Posted Friday at 09:46 PM HBO is doing a Six Feet Under marathon today. Have had it on all day. Loved this show so much. One thing I forgot is I always thought it opened with that weeks death, then the credits instead of credits then death. Also I could do without the Brenda’s brother storyline. The psychiatric BS with him and her was exhausting. But what a great show. Surprised how many of the deaths I remembered. still the best series ending ever. Quote

It was a great show and no ending will ever top it, but the final season was a big drop off for me. I just felt the characters were getting way too whiny. I mean, it was still really good, but not at it's peak. And I hated the way they dealt with Lisa's departure - the reason why and the end result (I won't spoil it) just came out of nowhere. Hey, here's this character we've barely seen who has suddenly done this major thing. It felt rushed. Quote
oblong Posted Saturday at 03:22 AM Posted Saturday at 03:22 AM Ruth was a great character. it’s funny how the memory works. The marathon is only on season two right now but it seems like I’ve already come across every major character. And I was away for the last 4 hours. Quote
IdahoBert Posted Saturday at 03:38 PM Posted Saturday at 03:38 PM Yeah, I get pretty verklempt by that ending. Quote
oblong Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I’m getting terminator vibes with Pluribus. As in this only a slight exaggeration of the inevitability of our learning and technology. The hive is AI. Carol is all of us. Everything we want to know and need is just a question away. Most of the others are either taking full advantage of it to fulfill their shallow needs or just accepting it to scrape by what life gives them. AI will take over all of our jobs and we’ll just be left wandering around or if we are lucky somehow involved with flying drones to do the stuff humans used to do. Quote

oblong Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I don’t think the things she saw are what we think. Too obvious. Quote
