He had one NCAA tourny appearance, so why not offer the interim job to Beilein were he willing to take it? You know Beilein is going to run a clean program. You know he's a good head coach and can work to keep most of our players that May recruited around here. He has familiarity with the university and Warde obviously. He's likely a better coach than Boynton will be. Quote

Deleterious Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Maybe Boynton can get Cade to go back to school and finish his 3 years of remaining eligibility. Quote

At least they're giving him an interim title. Something tells me they HEAVILY vetted his personal life, but it IS Warde, so who knows? Quote

He had all the leverage - "offer me a contract and I'll sign it if and when I see what the NBA offers." That die was cast the minute the nets were cut down in Indy and Michigan couldn't do much to change it. That's the world of big $$ sports. The Schools wanted into that world, now they get to live it. It'd be one thing if he was asked by a reporter, "do you intend to re-sign Dusty May?" and he said "we sure do, we want that man to be our coach for many years to come." I don't expect him to say "well, maybe, but if the NBA comes calling who knows." It's another to get in front of a mic at a national championship celebration and voluntarily offer "Dusty and I have already reached an agreement and he will be the leader of this basketball team many years to come." He voluntarily offered information in an attempt to take public credit for an agreement that wasn't even signed. It's just yet another bad look for a poorly run department. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted June 23 Posted June 23 Who was the coach that used to sweat so bad his shirts all were see-through? Quote
