Another top 10 draft pick for the Tigers next year (we are currently in the #8 spot). I'll update as we get closer towards the end of the season... and then there's also the lottery... I'm calling this "Last Chance" because I fully expect the Tigers to be in the Playoffs next year... or DAMN NEAR to making the playoffs. IN is better than "near miss" though, obviously... I'd like next year to be our last chance Top 10 pick for a "long, long, long time"... We shall see. My first unread post in this thread. The nadar for the season was 4 days away. Aug. 10 0.2%. No top 10 pick for us. Quote

AlaskanTigersFan Posted April 30 Posted April 30 https://www.si.com/mlb/tigers/news/detroit-tigers-add-two-impact-college-bats-latest-2025-mlb-mock-draft Little mock draft love. (I'd love these picks). I don't see us going with High Schoolers this year. So it'll be fun to see them draft someone we won't have to wait four years to see..... I could even see the Tigers drafting a reliever that could be fast moving and quick to the majors like Ryan Perry and Chance Ruffin (Had to look them up again sheeeeeeesh). I hope they go College bats though. Particularly OF or C. (Moreso OF). Quote

Hasn't gone particularly well. Edited April 30 by gehringer_2 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 The odds of any draftee making the majors is pretty terrible, but OTOH, you only need a couple of hits out of each draft to keep a team pretty well stocked, so I've always thought you draft purely on ceiling and don't worry about the washouts. A guy can have the highest guaranteed floor in the draft and all that probably gets you is a career AAA player. Quote

The catcher does NOT sound like a Harris pick. The guy mocked at #26 to the Phillies, OF'er Brendan Summerhill out of UCLA and AZU... DOES sound like a Harris pick: "a strong, athletic outfielder with a smooth left-handed swing who is just scratching the surface of his power potential. He is hitting .417/.513/.698 with 15 extra-base hits and more walks (18) than strikeouts (13) in 24 games this spring..." Edited April 30 by 1984Echoes Quote
chasfh Posted April 30 Posted April 30 When Harris took Max and Mac as high schoolers in 2023, we were building for the long term and probably didn’t expect to be in the playoffs the following season. Now that we’re that team, we need to draft top players who get here a lot more quickly. So I am guessing top-end college players are at the top of his shopping list. 1 Quote

RatkoVarda Posted April 30 Posted April 30 shocking how you can now trust the Tiger's staff to actually develop players, so to me, HS or College, arm or bat, whatever. They seem to have found a successful formula after decades and decades of failure. IMO there is still a strong correlation between volume of high picks and success rate, meaning give yourself as many turns as you can to find a legit ML player. Keep the CB pick every year. Acquire more CB picks if you can. Spend and grab a falling player in later rounds who is actually not going to college. 2020 draft picks: Quote
