at the risk of sounding mccoskey-esque, boyd's been getting pretty good results so far.  don't see that changing today

Are those not his current stats on the scoreboard?

NVM I see that's just his career stats vs the White Sox.

He got smacked around a bit in the third inning.

I actually saw something this game. I’ve never seen before: the same guy driving in two runs on routine infield singles, in back to back at bats. I would bet good money that’s the first time that has ever happened in over 200,000 major league games

Must win. If we win, does anyone think it may be a good idea to give Skubal an extra day of rest and use him against Baltimore? Those 3 games are going to be a....challenge.

If it’s a 5 man pitching staff without jostling things up, whoever starts tomorrow gets the last game of the season.  Put another way, whoever starts tonight and tomorrow get 4 starts, and the other 3 slots gets 3 starts.  Baltimore isn’t the team that the Tigers are chasing.  Minnesota is the team to get.  I’m not worried about him starting against Baltimore or any of those 6 games for that matter.  Get him the 4th start.

The standings lie. We're actually 4 games behind the Twins because of the tiebreaker. With 17 games to go. We <could> catch them, I mean, how many games were we out 17 games ago? Around August 23rd?

I don’t understand what this has to do with my comment about Skubal being pushed back a day?

Sure, due to the tiebreaker the Tigers are 4 games back.  They have to finish with a  better record than Minnesota (or Kansas City which seems doubtful) to make the playoffs.

It has nothing to do with you. It's about the Tigers catching the Twins. With 2 days off left in the season, Hinch could reset the staff to give Skubal that extra start. The Baltimore games are easily the toughest remaining games. Olson coming back means less BP days...using Skubal against them is just an idea...
