He backed down or he was paid off?

Does it even matter in the grand scheme of things?

The bigger tell is that it demonstrates that they *know* their tariff policies are wildly unpopular. And the reality is that it probably doesn't matter; people are going to put the pieces together as to why they can't find a toaster on the shelf at Walmart in a few months.

Same interview.

Someone needs to ask who exactly running this ****show

It's been clear from various statements that he's made from Day 1 that he's pretty checked out in most things that aren't related to tariffs or his own personal vendettas.

So yeah, it's absolutely a fair question

I'm back in my "tune out" mode because frankly... it doesn't matter.  There's nothing that can be done until January 2027 at the earliest if the GOP loses the House.  The Senate is a huge long shot.  Even then I won't put it past this admin to do extreme events like declaring Martial Law or whatever or to keep arresting judges.

Expect this to be a very hot summer.

Not gonna argue with your broader point (I'm still paying attention but posting less here)... But with regard to the bolded, I would have agreed a lot more 100 days ago. Much less convinced now.

To frame it in a different way, much like COVID, do not be surprised if it's hard to hide from politics in the coming months.

It hasn't fully hit retail yet, but working adjacent to the rail industry, container volume numbers have plummeted. And it really could start reflecting on store shelves soon enough.

They can’t bring Garcia back, no matter how many Supreme Courts tell them they have to, because if they bring Garcia back, then they can never extradite anyone to a foreign supermax torture prison ever again, and their ability to do so to anyone they choose, including you and me, is THE key to imposing their will against the will of the American people, which is the objective to help them attain their goal, that being ultimate and discretionary power over everything and everyone in the entire world.

He is one step from saying, “the stock market doesn’t matter.”

I hate to overread his bleats too much, but the "NOTHING TO DO WITH TARIFFS" bit has some real Streisand effect energy to it...

They know it does but they have to convince the minions that it doesn't.  One the one hand you have cabinet members and press secretaries and favorite media members saying "This will hurt but it has to hurt in order to work" and their boss saying "We didn't do this'

Both of those can't be true.

and the effect will be a summer of angry protests and BRUTAL reprisals from Trump’s fascist gang.

Which we saw muted in 2020 because of normies but this time it’s lackeys and mentally unstable cosplayers all the way down.

the message will be "a shrinking economy is good for you! it only hurts libtards!" - MAGA will eat it up

I doubt the media will bother to explain it is all Trump's fault, so MAGA message will continue to dominate

The mantra for the rest of this Regime will be "It's all Biden's fault". Just like 2017-2021 was all Obama's fault. Trump will never take the blame, just makes excuses.

That’s my read on summer 2025 also.
