CMRivdogs Posted yesterday at 02:47 PM Posted yesterday at 02:47 PM The standard Trump Know Nothing answer from anyone in this regime (and their disciples)...Don't answer the question, instead attack person asking the question or do a non-answer with a stupid question. Quote

CMRivdogs Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I've had the opportunity to go to a couple of the Library of Congress Book Fairs since we've moved here. Very popular events. There have always been informative and some great author interviews. Lots of diversity. I understand this years event will be substantially reduced, thanks to cutbacks. She will be missed Quote

oblong Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I think he's dumb in the sense he's not well read or curious about things. But he's not dumb when it comes to presentation and marketing. When we writes something on social media and everybody goes ape ****.... that's intentional. He knows people will make fun of his spelling and mixing things up. I think Bill Maher was right in many ways. What helps him with a lot of his voters is the fact that in the 4 1/2 months how many times have we seen footage of him in the oval office and all of that? Probably more than we saw Biden doing that in 4 years. 1 Quote

I think he is good at marketing and self promotion and getting people worked up, but I don't think it's calculated (at least not by him). I don't even think that part is all him as I am sure most of the online stuff is written by somebody else. A lot of it is intentional, but if he gets challenged on things on the spot like in a debate or press conference, he often melts down and I don't think that is intentional. When put in a situation where being somewhat intelligent might be to his benefit, he fails. It's frustrating to me that all the influential people in the country keep letting hm get away with it, becase he is easily exposed. Harris, who is no rocket scientist, totally manipulated him in the debate. Quote
ewsieg Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Whether he's dumb or smart all comes down to what you value. Like Oblong says, he's not well read nor curious on most things. It sounds like he enjoys watching people battle ideas in front of him. Reagan was known to encourage members of his admin to debate issues to help determine how he wanted to handle it and that was considered a plus for him. The difference was Reagan listened for the substance of the debate, Trump looks for that 'mic drop' moment that would make good TV and bases his decision on how well the argument was sold, not how well the argument is. He's a spectacular salesmen but also looks at everything in life like it's sales. Knowing what I know about his skills now, and ignoring how empty of a person he is, he would have been fantastic in so many different roles, but president certainly isn't one of them. Quote

I agree he is a great salesman which is important in business, but I am not his target audience! Becoming president does require good sales skills, but being president requires so much more than that. Quote
