Jim Farley who constantly is preaching to his company about the threat from BYD and thinks EVs are a future path. Whatever WCF thinks is relevant but Farley is likely not the person calling the WH and the POS POTUS about wanting to destroy the planet. For his life up till now, WCF is the most greeny of all the major car people. IIRC he was the fist one to embrace Obama/Biden policies for carbon control and I think Ford was the only US builder not to oppose the last set of CAFE increases prior to Trump. From what I have gleaned locally, Ford's long term focus is still EV even if the Lightning was an overreach for the current state of play. Ford's manufacturing issues have them in a wounded state right now and you have to imagine they would most like not to be pulled into the political spotlight at all. Trump probably knows that full well and is trying to leverage it. Edited 4 hours ago by gehringer_2 1 Quote

Like Gretchen Whitmer's need to salvage Selfridge (see that alliteration?) , it puts the local pol in the untenable posture of having to reach out to the monster to avoid being the next one it eats. I still think Ford should have politely declined the visit. And good on the local Ford employee who gave POTUS what he deserved. Edited 4 hours ago by romad1 1 Quote

This is why we are in so much more trouble that just electing an malevolent man-child as president, we also voted hard for his enablers. Voters get what they deserve generally. Unfortunately that leaves the other 250 million to suffer the collateral damage. 1 Quote

We needed to have an unregulated flow of guns and ammo — to the point of countenancing multiple mass shootings of schoolchildren — in order to “protect ourselves against gummint tyranny”. In a workplace you are held to the workplace standards...... I could only imagine what would happen to me walking through my office in Dearborn and yelling something like that to a Ford guest. I am not even a Ford employee lol. You can't be serious. Quote

Trump is lying...as usual; "Under a little-known Cold War agreement, the United States already enjoys sweeping military access in Greenland. Right now, the United States has one base in a very remote corner of the island. But the agreement allows it to “construct, install, maintain, and operate” military bases across Greenland, “house personnel” and “control landings, takeoffs, anchorages, moorings, movements, and operation of ships, aircraft, and waterborne craft.” https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/07/world/europe/trump-greenland-denmark-us-defense-pact.html Quote

China or Russia won't "take over" Greenland as Trump claims. He's lying...again. Using "National Security" as a scare tactic. Just like he used that excuse for his horrible tarriffs or for his racist immigration crackdown. Every single thing him and his administration does is anti-American, as they use the constitution as toilet paper... 1 Quote
