I lost a brother to MAGA delusional thinking. He was always a conservative republican but Trump sent him over the edge. Pretty sad...he's 77 years old and totally set in his ways...a rare college educated MAGA member...it shows that not all of Trump's supporters are uneducated idiots...the rest of them just have NO common sense.

Sounds like one of my cousins. From the sounds of it, extreme news 'sources' like Newsmax and InfoWars, especially when not mixed up with more moderate sources, have been a major influence. 

Another cousin has determined that all of his hard times were caused by Biden, as well is 'illegals.'

Both of them think that Biden is the one who stole billions, and either seem oblivious to the stealing in the current regime, or feel like it's justified.

Both my sisters are part of this cult. I love them both but this is making it difficult to be around them at the holidays.

I think we all have a couple. I have a brother in law who has never held a real job in over 50 years. Most of his "earnings" are "under the table". Yet he still rants about "freeloaders"

Also a cousin who lost his job about 20 years ago as a pharmaceutical rep. Staunch Trumper to the point of being blocked by most of the family on social media. Still thinks kids need to have "common sense" beat into them by their parents

While I don't know how common this is, I do know a few people who are all for cutting public assistance-even though they are on public assistance themselves. They think it's because they prayed for it, so that makes them special cases.

This is why it's not hard to rag on the Times/Post and other outlets. They simply pull their punches, particularly in headlines (which is what most people actually read)

It was pretty clear what he was implying with his comments (at least for anyone who has ever seen Goodfellas anyway), but there's this pathological need to pretend that this is all "business as usual".

Florida and US cities practically depend on Canadian Tourism during the winter months...

Ever since 1919, Halifax has provided Boston with its Christmas tree as a thank you for their aid that year. And Canadian tourists are definitely a big part of New England's summer economy.

Learned about that during our trip this Fall. I knew about the explosion and was reminded about the hospitality to US travelers on 9/11.

The Christmas Tree is really a big deal in that part of Nova Scotia. There is a big Festival around the selection and the cutting of the tree. The Canadians take pride in their heritage, both the good and the bad. Learned a bit about the expulsion of French Residents during the French and Indian War. Interestingly a lot made their way to Louisiana and are responsible for the Cajun culture
