Law enforcement, for all the issues they have all over the country, have different jobs than federal agents who can come in and Leeroy Jenkins their way through and leave. Local and state law enforcement, OTOH, live and work in these communities and *cannot* do their job without some baseline level of trust with the public.

We saw this in Illinois during the Chicago operation... The feds constantly putting local law enforcement agencies, as well as Illinois State Police, in a position where they are trying to keep the peace while managing the chaos that these feds were inflicting on the population. 

Not trying to be an apologist for cops, I have plenty of issues with how we do law enforcement in our country. But their mission and ability to do their jobs is in direct contradiction with what the Trump Administration is doing at this moment. And it's something to keep an eye on going forward, to see whether a real wedge starts to develop

I grew up around a bunch of kids whose dads were members of the state police, county sherrifs and so forth. Just like every other organization there are a few bad apples mixed in. 

With Trump's "Army" what we are seeing is a bunch of wantabes, Mostly the same group we saw during January 6. A bunch of guys who want to play soldier but could never cut the mustard in the real thing. Just like the Faker in Chief himself who had his daddy pay off a doctor. A tough guy until confronted.

These ICE pretenders need fee some real pushback

This can't be overstated enough. The standards to get on with a typical state police or highway patrol branch are very very high. Less rigorous at the county or municipal level, but there still are standards.

Reporting on ICE and CBP, especially since Trump took over and since they have surged resources to them, suggests few standards at all. Despite all the taxpayer money being thrown at recruits to join.

Put another way, the vast majority of these guys couldn't get on with state or local agencies because they don't make the grade, yet the feds will throw out taxpayer dollars at them because they need any warm body they can get

I am missing my bi-weekly range time today because of the storm.  It has been weird shooting wearing my Never Trump gear subtly while everyone in the parking lot has those Gadsden Flag license plates.   A good example is my Four Seasons Landscapping hoodie.  Its a deep cut.
