When you are an elected official your charge are American citizens. You can lobby to change laws and or policies but ultimately you serve your citizens.

Is he really representing the majority of Americans in his capacity as President? There has been qualitative and quantitative evidence that his administration's actions, including their murder of two citizens in Minneapolis, have tanked their credibility on this issue. 

That doesn't even address other issues such as inflation and the economy, where he spent a bunch of time last night telling the American people that everything is great despite all evidence that the American people don't believe it.

Or do you just reject that evidence altogether?

About 40% of undocumented immigrants came here legally, but their work or student visa expired.  I understand the overstay is still illegal, but these aren't rapists and drug dealers.  In fact, only a small percentage of undocumented immigrants are serious criminals.  I don't think many would protest if they quietly removed that small percentage.  That does not require invading cities and disrupting and endangering the lives of everbody in the city

There are and have been legal ways to deport those who overstayed or came in illegally. Obama was quite successful in doing it the proper way. Check the numbers

You don't park your humanity at the door when you become an elected official either. It doesn't serve anyone's citizens to take joy in the discomfiture or others. The de-humanization is simply the precondition to excuse acting in ways that would otherwise be morally unacceptable - own it for what it is.

This is obviously correct just on the level of basic humanity. But again, just on the pure politics, as to the bolded, there is both quantitative and qualitative evidence that the American public doesn't feel "served" by this administration right now. They're like Thelma and Louise driving the convertible off the cliff
