oblong Posted September 5 Posted September 5 what do you expect the dems to do? Screaming and yelling and talking about it won't fix it. Trump and his admin do not have to respond to public pressure anymore. Approval ratings are meaningless. Talking about it on Sunday morning shows and podcasts will not affect them. Even Fox News turning on them won't affect them. They have the authority to do what they want and they will. Yelling at them in hearings in Congress will be blown off. We're stuck with this **** for 3 1/2 years. It might get a little better if Dems flip the house, and maybe the Senate. Quote

We're stuck with this **** for 3 1/2 years. It might get a little better if Dems flip the house, and maybe the Senate. I don't think they respond to public pressure, but I do think their colleagues in the House/Senate can and will respond to it. Even if it seems hopeless, they shouldn't stop trying. The fact that Bobby Jr. was taking fire from actual GOP Senators yesterday (not just Ds) is directly tied to the CDC director and leadership making it as difficult as possible for them to be removed and subsequently raising the profile of the moves IMO. Opponents of this administration (including Ds but also others) should learn from it. And raising the profile of the moves raises the salience to voters, who then apply pressure as well when they figure out they cannot do things they once took for granted (ie. getting a COVID shot) Edited September 5 by mtutiger Quote
mtutiger Posted September 5 Posted September 5 They can cook the books all they want, but if the Biden years taught us anything, all the data in the world isn't going to override what people see in front of them in their day to day life. 1 Quote

I have had Covid before and it was no big deal for me, but I will be teaching for the next 8 months and if I get Covid I am supposed to stay at home. That means remote teaching for a week which isn't good. The lecture is OK, but doing computer labs in breakout rooms is not a good way to learn. I think you'll be able to get one. https://www.boston.com/news/coronavirus/2025/09/03/against-fda-restrictions-healey-issues-order-making-covid-vaccines-more-accessible-in-mass/ 1 Quote

It's not easy in the neighborhoods in Detroit to find good fresh food that's good for you. especially if you don't have a car. But that can of soup and beef stick and cheese from the gas station will have to do. That's all you can get. That's something else that needs to change, but I know it won't especially not under this administration. Their only "solution" to every problem is punishing people. Depending on the manner of interrogation, that could make for a good video recruiting tool. Quote

Sinking the boat stops one small shipment. Why not seize the boat and go after the big money cartels and chop off the head. This move by Trump did absolutely nothing in the scheme of things. Except create a super cool video they can use to recruit psychopaths. Quote

Some of it is because we are now better able to diagnose and treat diabetes and also because because people are living longer in general. It is a big problem though which brings us to your point about his funding cuts for diabetes research. Not for nothing, changes in the way autism is diagnosed has also led to higher reported numbers of that. 2 Quote

ewsieg Posted September 5 Posted September 5 This is what you Trump haters don't get, he gets results. He wants a rate cut, but the fed won't do it because of inflation. Does he stop there? No, he gets what he wants, so he plays the long game of stifling jobs and here we are, in a great position to get that rate cut. More 4D chess from our dear leader. Quote

I know you're being sarcastic here, but it's gonna be real fun when the rate cut hits and the market continues to sputter while prices continue increasing. Quote
