I just did a quick lookup and the last superbowl was watched by roughly 210 million people in the US (plus another 62.5 million globally).  Hispanic viewship was estimated at 14% and the spanish language broadcast was below 2%.  The vast majority of viewers are English speaking, so it doesn't seem that outside of the box to think that entertainment for the group would match.

The NFL is pushing their product to Latin/South America, as well as Europe, but they are making significant gains within our hemisphere.  As such, I understand why Bad Bunny was picked, but I have no issues with the majority of viewers which this won't resonate with wondering if the NFL is turning their back on them either.  My guess, the NFL figures it won't lose fans over this, but can gain fans with Bad Bunny.  Think of it like Democrats and their constituents in large cities, they throw some talking points to them once in awhile, but by and far they ignore them just like the Republicans because they already have that market controlled.

Language outrage seems selelctive. Wagner is supposed to be the national music of fascism, it's all sung in German, and all the Pope Francis haters want the Mass done in Latin.

Bad Bunny is the most streamed artist right now.   Can anybody with a brain tell me why this is a bad decision?  Do they know how this works?  It's not about picking someone "good" that baby boomers want to watch.  "Hey, maybe we can get John Fogerty or John Mellencamp or splurge and maybe Garth Brooks.  Woo... that'll  keep 'em watching."

It's not 1996 anymore.  I'm 52 in a few days and smart enough to know I'm not their target.

“What we are seeing in Chicago the past 24 hours is a mere prelude. The official numbers of agents is nothing compared to the prisoners private contractors are releasing to kidnap, disappear and kill their fellow Americans. This suggests the covered faces are less about protecting the contractors and more about hiding from the public that prisoners are being used for this. Armed and set loose upon their fellow denizens on our streets.

Has Trump apologized for the sombrero video?

Nope. He just double, then tripled down.

btw, as we know,  that man has never apologized for anything in his life.

Has he apologized for Patel firing an employee strictly for their sexual orientation?   Seems like the apology list is stacking up.

He's hosting SNL this week. He's been very funny on there in the past. He was awesome in the new Happy Gilmore movie.

Was he the guy in the Pedro Pascal sketch where he pulled out the cookie tin with sewing stuff inside?

Does anyone think Trump will act presidential before he dies in office and mascara boy takes over on behalf of Palantir?

You should probably start a new thread to discuss.

Today's JVL....I'd be happy to get on this train. Make it so Dems

Quote

The only compromises Democrats should accept in exchange for bailing out the Republican-controlled Congress are ones that would either (a) rebalance the structure of government, or (b) put limits on executive power.

If I were Chuck Schumer, my position would be:

The only thing that gets you Democratic votes is statehood for the District of Columbia.

I’d couch the ask this way: Recent events have proven that American citizens in the District are uniquely vulnerable to abuses of power by the federal government. Statehood is required to protect residents from a president who would turn the force of the military on them.

Make D.C. a state and we will bail you out of your incompetence. Otherwise, pound sand.

If that’s too militant for you, there are other potential compromises. Some ideas:

  • A legislative end to “Kavanaugh stops.”

  • Ending qualified immunity for federal law enforcement officers.

  • Mandating that federal law enforcement officers cannot wear masks and must display identifying badges/markings at all times.

  • Closing the “emergency” loopholes that the administration has claimed for everything from tariffs to acts of war.

  • Removing the secretary of state’s discretionary power to revoke visas.

Or my personal favorite:

  • Release all of the Epstein files.

That’s right. We’ll bail out Republican incompetence after you release the Epstein files. All of them.

One of my FB acquaintances, who is 70, listened to Bad Bunny for the first time thanks to this news cycle.... she said she likes him now.

I wonder if there are others checking him out-whether or not he ends up playing at the SB, the exposure right now might make him even bigger.

I was watching a two hour long YouTube video exposing right wing podcaster Patrick Bet David as a con artist and a grifter, based on his company PHP Insurance. It got me thinking. Is the Trump movement and Donald Trump himself just apart of one giant multilevel marketing pyramid scheme? Is that all this grift is, just Amway or Mary Kay for politics?

Someone please correct me if my thinking is wrong here. I don't think I am though.
