Ugh, I was at a beach on the west side the other day an some guy in his 60/70 age range made a comment about the ecoli warning sign at Silver Lake State Park's Little Sable Point lighthouse beach that it was probably "Bill Gates who put the virus there"

I wish I could have said: "nah dawg, it was RFKjr and the rest of them Epsteins"

I remember when I was a teenager naively thinking that because we all had long hair and smoked pot we were all like cool hippies and totally not squares and now I think back to all the things I remember in my head that these pot-smoking longhaired kids would say that were retrograde even back then, not unlike the thing you overheard, and I marvel at how I completely missed it all.

Nobody has any issues with Todd Blanche (or anybody in the AG position) having this tool that can & will be used indiscriminately to move prisoners ??

This feels like a big deal to me.

It can be difficult to tease out every one of the individual water drops coming out of the firehose.

The scope and depth of the siege mentality he is cultivating among his highly armed and motivated base of horrifying and breathtaking at the same time.

Get a load of this. This is what acceleration looks like.

Note that what is being described in the story is not happening to immigrants, which, of course, is horrific in its own right. This is happening to the civil service, people who have devoted their day-to-day professional lives to the federal government, which is now turning on them. For the sin of not showing sufficient devotion to the new regime, they are being made to suffer physical punishment. Not just professional punishment, and not just psychological punishment. Actual physical punishment.

If you have forgotten, or have never learned in the first place, how Germany accelerated in the 1930s, you might consider boning up on your history, while it is still available to you.

Acceleration happens suddenly, without warning, and often not detected until it’s too late.

Never forget: as long as some in our midst are at risk, we are all at risk. All of us.

Take care.

I keep thinking that a new Night of the Long Knives might be coming-and that's a horrifying thought.

In the Garden of Beasts is a book that describes the early years of the Third Reich-and a lot of it is so similar to what is happening here that it's a different level of scary.

It was another thing that got normalized. if you were a front edge boomer, say reaching 75 or more today, to be a long hair you were a vanguard group, your numbers were small and it had cost you something to declare your allegiance to the counter culture. Within just a few years though the 'counter-culture', became predominant enough youth culture that opting in to it lost much of it's original significance and self-selection filters.

Traceable to the Tet Offensive.

do you mean after Tet, 'everyone' was anti-war? That's not a bad marker.

Yeah, Walter Cronkite gave middle america permission to question the war.

Thinking this through, the idea of moving the worst of the worst violent criminals into special federal training facilities does strike me as alarming.
