romad1 Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 It would be something special if our QB was in the CFB playoff as a true freshman. Quote

Hongbit Posted October 9 Posted October 9 (edited) So I hear there’s a little game in Los Angeles on Saturday. It’s a got to have it game for both teams. Probably a little more for USC because the schedule is harder. Whoever loses here will need a to have a significant upset victory and some additional outside help to get in the playoff. SC had a week off to get healthy and make tweaks. Hard to tell from the box scores but the defense is actually quite better than past years. CB was the weak spot coming into the year and it’s been decimated with injuries. Freshman forced into the lineup that shouldn’t be playing yet have been abused. Michigan has had a slow start developing its receivers but made strides last week so this is probably a good matchup for both teams. The front 7 has been great but lacks discipline and is prone for dumb penalties and the occasional missed assignment. That plays right into UM hands as one of the RB’s will almost certainly pop a long one before the end of the day. The OL has been solid and that’s opened up the offense. QB looks legit and has a ton of high end skills but then again at times so did Miller Moss, Kedan Slovis, JT Daniels, and on and on. He could end up a star but he’s got to keep doing it on Saturdays. Makai Lemon is Puka Nacua. He’s currently outplaying Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate as the best WR in the conference. He’s been doing it without Jakobi Lane fully healthy on the other side. Lane is supposedly 100% after the week off. Toughest test on the schedule for the Michigan DB’s. This is a game that SC should win at home against a team that doesn’t feature the pass with an inexperienced QB. The problem is that Lincoln Riley teams just don’t close. In fact, they straight out choke when the game is on the line. Riley has coached 45 games at USC and amazingly he has lost 8 games where they were tied or ahead with 2:00 to go in the game. It’s hard to fathom. Just like last year, Michigan comes back and wins a game they had no business winning. Michigan 37 USC 35 Edited October 9 by Hongbit 1 Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I don't know what to make of Michigan. Obviously, our running game lead by Justice Haynes is very good. Our defensive front is very good. Our defense overall is good to great at time. I just am uncertain about the rest of this Michigan team and who Bryce Underwood really is. Bryce can step up in a big way on Saturday and establish himself as a really good QB in a short amount of time. If Bryce looks good, I think Michigan wins this one and pulls away with it. Even if Bryce isn't lightening the world on fire I do think we can beat USC on Saturday. If forced to make a choice, I would likely pick Michigan to win it. I think the winner of this game makes it into the CFB playoffs and the loser does not. So a playoff spot may well be on the line on Saturday. Quote

But Henson is exactly the question about Underwood - does he have it between the ears or not? Sadly Henson didn't, though the team could have done worse than get Tom Brady as the consolation prize. Aside from his processing, Underhill needs to work on touch -he's rocketing too often on short throws where he needs to give his receivers half a chance. My interest in college football has been at an all-time low, but watching to see how Underhill develops is keeping me interested for now. Quote
Hongbit Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I’ve got an uneasy feeling this may be the Bryce Underwood coming out game. I am more interested to see how USC responds on both sides of the ball after a bye week. Lincoln Riley is the 3rd highest paid coach in the country and has done nothing in 4 years. I’m not sure who would rank higher as most overrated coach in the country now that James Franklin has been completely exposed. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Does offensive PI not get called anymore? USC clearly committing offensive PI on that TD play. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Underwood and the Michigan offense look sloppy early. Quote
romad1 Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 A losing road game after last night's Tiger game does not appeal to my soul. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Momentum of a great play ruined by truly stupid 2 pt attempt call. Was someone questioning Moore? Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I'm just going to throw this question out there. If the Ravens were to fire John Harbaugh, would you want him at Michigan to replace Sherrone if John was willing to come coach college football? 1 Quote

MichiganCardinal Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I don’t think John Harbaugh will be fired by the Ravens, I don’t think Sherone is going anywhere any time soon, and I don’t think John Harbaugh would be interested in the college game even if both those first two things happened. He would likely have his pick of NFL jobs if he left the Ravens, and I could see him taking a GM-type executive role somewhere before he returned to college. He’d probably be a really good GM. All that said, bringing him to Michigan would be a gamble. It sounds great on paper but he’s nearly 30 years removed from college football, and that was as a special teams coordinator at Cincinnati and Indiana. Far cry from today’s world of NIL recruitment and the institutional politics both within and outside of the school. It’s probably harder to be a college head coach right now than it is an NFL head coach. He would need to likely be in a similar role as Belichick is at UNC. I think John Harbaugh is a better person and coach than Belichick, and less chaotic than his brother, so it would have some likelihood of success (as opposed to Belichick), but I don’t think it would be as plug-and-play as it was with Jim, who was just five years removed from his time as head coach at Stanford when Michigan hired him. buddha Posted October 13 Posted October 13 on second thought, i wouldnt want john harbaugh. go get a college guy to coach michigan. moore isnt going anywhere for at least two years. BUT, we say that now. if michigan implodes this year and next i could see it. if he doesnt fire wink martindale he should be fired. Quote
