Also is manufactured by (nearly) publicly traded company with fiduciary responsibilities to those investors. Nearly because of the magic special stock the Ford family has that insulates them from too much democracy. Quote

True - on the other hand, the stability of that control is what got them through the crash when the General ended belly up. Quote

romad1 Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 (edited) Today on my very whirlwind tour of Livonia/South Lyon and Milford I ran into the Barnes and Noble on the corner of 5 and Haggerty (or is that 6 mile?) and I was perusing a book titled "Hubris Maximus" about Elon Musk and some sweet old lady comes up and says "that book has a great title, doesn't it?" and i look at it and I realize she's no fan of Ole' Elon and I respond "Yeah, he's a real piece of work, isn't he?" and she responds "you can say that again!" Now, sample size is very small. Not all the old people in that age cohort in the western suburbs are Trumpies. I didn't assume she was hitting on me. Edited May 1 by romad1 1 Quote
Tiger337 Posted May 2 Posted May 2 This is probably just another revenge move for Trump, but going after the Fed for wasting money would be the first good thing DOGE has done. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/elon-musk-says-doge-should-examine-federal-reserve-costs-bloomberg-news-reports-2025-05-01/ 1 Quote
chasfh Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Yeah, I don’t trust anything Trump or DOGE say they want to do for whatever reason, even if it sounds good on the surface. Because you need only scratch the surface just a little to see the rotten real reason lurking just beneath it. Quote

I am just saying that hypothetically if they were legitimately trying to cut waste and fraud, going after the federal reserve for their lavish reconstruction would be the type of thing they should target. romad1 Posted May 2 Author Posted May 2 Alternative for Germany (AfD), the party that Vice President Vance and Elon Musk schmooze with is officially classified as "a proven right-wing extremist organization". No, not by "leftist woke lunatics" but by Germany's domestic intelligence agency. https://www.politico.eu/article/afd-officially-right-wing-extremist-group-germanys-intel-agency-says/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=alert&utm_campaign=AfD is officially a right-wing extremist group%2C Germany’s intel agency says Goddamn Musk Quote

I question how much Musk is stepping back, but to the extent that he's being forced out and that he's being pushed in front of the bus in the press, nobody should forget who brought him on to the do the damage that he did. I'm going to go ahead and quote Harry Truman's desk: "The buck stops here!" Which means the ultimate responsibility for allowing an unelected mentally deranged drug addict to run roughshod over government lies with Donald Trump. Musk deserves rage, of course, but let's not lose sight of this fact either. 1 Quote
RatkoVarda Posted May 30 Posted May 30 how is it news that the guy who repeatedly admitted to massive drug abuse and gave televised interviews while smoking pot and appeared in public completely addled multiple times - was abusing drugs! Quote
