papalawrence Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Dodgers are 8-1 this post season and their SP era is sub 1.50. We're seeing what a healthy Dodgers team looks like. And they are doing this with a slumping Ohtani. Quote
lordstanley Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Mariners are on the verge of letting another game get out of hand against them. Castillo has already been pulled and it’s only the 3rd. 3-1 Jays, bases loaded. Quote

guy incognito Posted October 17 Posted October 17 (edited) %#&@n’ Scherzer. I’m just enough of a petty SOB to hate seeing ex-Tigers do well. It’s a flaw in my character but I can’t help it. Edited October 17 by guy incognito Quote

Guys over three years of service or who have been previously outrighted can declare free agency when they are outrighted or do so immediately after the season (by October 15 or within four days after postseason run ends). Nido and Baddoo had very healthy minor league salaries, so it makes sense they would stick around and not forfiet that, and now get a 3 week head start on free agency. Do you know what their salaries are? Is it the big league minimum as long as they’re on the 40, or is there another tier of minor league salary they make that’s better than non-40 players make? Quote

Baddoo because he was outrighted was entitled to half of what me made last year at minimum, and since last year he was arbitration his minor league salary this year was something like $700k this year. Minor league free agents are capped at something like $210k for their minor league split. I got access to some of the salaries for minor league players, and Nido was right around that maximum. Quote

lordstanley Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Jays are smashing Mariners dreams. 6-2. Jays fans in attendance are louder and more numerous than I expected. Quote

chasfh Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Nice performative dive by Barger on a ball he could have pretty easily caught standing up. Can’t blame him—it gets him lots of love from media and fans who don’t quite notice it. 1 Quote
papalawrence Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Max probably got himself a 15-20 mil contract for next season if he still wants to pitch 1 Quote
papalawrence Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Puts things in perspective as to how hard it is to make it to the show. Although I would add that Terry Forster would take up 2 seats. Quote

IdahoBert Posted October 17 Posted October 17 $20 million a year for a guy under replacement value. I guess a lot of of these contracts end like that. Quote
Shades of Deivi Cruz Posted October 17 Posted October 17 I love Casty. He's not a great player and certainly has his deficiencies (especially defensively), but I've always found him easy to root for. I don't want him back on the Tigers now, at this point in his career, but I hope he does well wherever he ends up (unless it's Cleveland). Quote
theroundsquare Posted October 17 Posted October 17 I could see Nick C. on the Marlins next year. They bring him "home," they don't have much of a DH right now Quote
papalawrence Posted October 17 Posted October 17 The Brewers need to see this and be reminded! Dodgers gotta go down. 21 years ago tonight https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17ZZzX8mxN/ Quote
lordstanley Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Finally a tight game in the Jays-Mariners series. Bryan Woo comes in for the 6th inning but has just given up a leadoff double. Quote
4hzglory Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Well, the Mariners are glad they have Suarez tonight. Quote
