anything is possible but Hinch talked about him quite a bit in the post game and gave no indication anything was amiss. Could always be something didn't feel right this morning...

and Olson was eligible as of today.

Maybe Montero for Olsen and they DFA Brebbia?

It’s laughable that people who don’t think the Tigers are real just don’t like a team that actually plays like a team using all its movable parts. Playing smart isn’t satisfying. It needs to be splashier.

It needs to be of a collection of big star egotists they can worship from the cheap seats like peasants in awe of King Arthur. Big stars, big personalities, big news. That’s the ruling narrative.

The way the Tigers go against the grain of American sports culture makes them even more satisfying in my eyes. And we’ve got enough stars as it is right now and we have more on the way.

If Olson is ready, you can send Montero down and buy a couple days with Smith as an extra reliever. I suspect they may pull the plug on Brebbia though unless somebody is hurt.

So, expect the dual championships to bring with it mass starvation, depredations and eventually world war.

Lemonade out of lemons: we'll have dual champions.

Rob Parker still a moron says the Yankees are better then the Tigers because the Yankees are missing players and Max Fried should win the Cy Young over Skubal this was on the MLB network

I don't think anyone really believes that Max Fried is a better pitcher than Skubal, but looking just at outcomes, Fried is no doubt off to a better start.

I think it is defensible to consider the Yankees the better team, although only marginally better. We still have the better record, though, because outcomes. Yanks are on a pretty good run right now, though.

People like stars. They want stars. Baseball wants what the NFL and NBA has, so fans to want stars because stars can be marketed and exploited (until they act out, of course).

The whole Dombrowski Tigers run was predicated on stars, and those teams did pretty good. That's a big reason so many posters here criticized Harris for not signing stars.

Or maybe they wanted the Tigers to sign players because they thought the the Tigers were close to being a playoff team and they could improve their chances by filling some holes.  On the other hand, there was this one guy who thought the Tigers shouldn't sign anyone because they were not ready yet.  😃

As for 40 man crunch when Meadows gets back, if Brebbia isn't a casualty, Cobb is still on the 15-Day IL and can be slid to the 60 without affecting his eligibility to return.

At what point would we activate Gipson-Long off the 60-Day?

Don’t know the roster implications, but even when he’s ready I think he stays in Toledo until we have a need for a starter.  Cobb is the wildcard in a lot of this—I’m sure he’ll be in the rotation when ready.  If no openings, I think they’ll eventually move Jobe into a relief role to limit his innings this season.  Probably a 3 inning guy, RH version of Hurter.

Yup, that’s me! We weren’t ready yet!

Probably coming soon. But even then, you can still make room... Hicklen, Baddoo, Kreidler, Manning...

Congrats, Tommy

Congrats indeed! This is actually incredibly hard to do. The article states that less than 10% achieve this, when I did research on the topic about a year ago, I found a stat that said 8%. And I believe he is the only one on the roster with that much service time.

The Yankees are the defending American League Champions. Until some other team wins the AL, they are the best. Regular season records are meaningless.

I believe at that point they get a "gold" card which gives them admission to any game.

Players get their "Golden Ticket" after 8 years of service time. It allows them  (and a guest) enterence into any MLB regular season game, not the playoffs.

I once asked Dave Rozema if I could see his, and he said he never carried it with him. It would be interesting to know how many players actually do.

Baez will hit 10 years service time towards the end of the season.
