I wonder if the Tigers will try to trade for a pitcher or two.

WIthout looking up their contract status, someone like Jeffrey Springs or Zach Eflin.

No point in getting to the postseason and having the starters get destroyed in a short series.

I think for the postseason especially, bullpen arms are more important.

You need 4 starters max in the playoffs.  If healthy, Skubal, Flaherty (I’m assuming he figures things out) Mize, and Olsen are capable enough, and at there best match up well against most.  If one starter has a short outing, if you have enough solid bullpen arms you’re ok as the days off means guys can go almost every day.

I saw some people on Twitter saying the Tigers should trade a top prospect package to Atlanta for Chris Sale. Thankfully, he just went to the IL with a fractured rib cage. I want no part of him on this team, we could find someone less expensive. Both in salary and the players needed to trade for. And I really don't like Sale...😃

Verlander was/is a giant d-bag too, but no one cared when he was winning Cy Youngs.

Sale is making 22m this season. And he's in his late 30's. So it would be a rental, kind of an expensive one. I really don't wanna see any top prospects traded to Atlanta. Find some AA pitcher nobody has ever heard of...<cough cough>

We need a legit #2. I don't trust Flaherty or Mize come playoff time. They might be OK against a team's #3 or #4, but I'd feel way better about our postseason chances if we paired Skubal with another arm we all felt comfortable sending out there.

Also need 2 more bullpen arms - either 2 setup guys or a setup and backend. Kahnle and Vest can only carry us so far.

Listening to yesterday‘s game in the car Dan Dickerson related briefly the story about Willie Horton making his way his way to the Pirates clubhouse to congratulate Don Kelly. The Tigers great paying his respects to a beloved role player. Both men of the cloth.

As much as these baseball clubs follow the fault lines of soulless corporate entities like any other, the Tigers still maintain this affecting human dimension among the men who are part of the lineage of the team.

I suppose all teams do this, but the Tigers are the only team I follow closely and when I sense this knit of identity between former players or hear about, it brings me joy. As remote as I am from all of it, I somehow feel included.

If healthy...I would not count on it.  I'd like to see them get one more starter.  If everyone stays healthy, that gives them another bullpen arm for the playoffs.  I also want them to had a traditional reliever or two.

The Tigers need to do something before the trade deadline.  They have two years of Skubal left.  They can't waste those years by worrying about trading a bunch of minor leaguers that will probably never be anything other than Trey Sweeney type of mlbers.

I would like the front office to try to add a quality outfield bat.  The Orioles have some veterans they might want to dump.  This might be a year where a lot of teams hold onto their guys.
