Because teams know they're not gonna be able to string together 3 or more hits to score a run. Single, stolen base and another single. And the guy is a base stealer.

I'm going just by memory, but I seem to recall the Royals making a huge deal out of it when Paul Splitorff retired. Of course, he had a much longer career with the Royals than Moose.
