My loss is Oblong's gain: I got tickets some time ago for Thursday's getaway game. Skubal was in line for the start. But today's bullpen game pushes him back to Friday in Detroit vs the Cubs. As of now, Casey Mize is penciled in for Thursday, but even that might not happen, because there's a good chance Wednesday gets rained out, and if so, with Olson and Jobe out and Montero still gassed, that probably means the return of Sawyer Gipson-Long, which, that would be a pretty good storyline to follow.

My son also bought tickets for Thursday to see Skubal. And he arranged a day off from work. He's pretty bummed out about Tarik not pitching but I said it's like feeding a steak to a dog, why waste Skubal against such a horrible team? 😅

but Friday's forecast here is looking spotty.  Getting conflicting reports.  Have some friends driving in to go with us.

But yeah... Skubal would be nice!

My Yahoo weather, which is also “weather underground“ is saying there’s a 55% chance of showers at 8 PM. I hope this doesn’t happen while Carpenter is trying to hit four home runs again.

Tonight? The Weather Channel app disagrees, it says only a 1% chance at 8PM. I do find this app is wrong quite often though...

You got a good point—although even Cy Young winners could use a day off on the mound!

I am leaning toward going. Wife won't go with me. May have to go solo.

I’m watching the parts of the game that were especially satisfying from last night and when Jack falls face forward running to first the first base umpire breaks into spontaneous laughter. It’s sort of like watching a silent movie where someone slips on the ice and everyone laughs.

I'm not sure where to find the stat but this Tiger team sure scores a lot of early inning runs. This guy going against us tonight is kinda wild, 8 walks in his last 13 ip.

When I watched the weird pop-up from last night where Dingler assisted McKinstry Jason was saying there has to have never been a 2–5 in the history of baseball and Carlos in a moment, perhaps, of unguarded irony says “that’s something I could bet on.”

If you're thinking of what I'm thinking of, then close: That was a P23.

I don't believe this came up during the game, but Dingler earned himself an assist on the play.

With a win tonight, this year’s Tigers would match the win total of the 2024 White Sox. With a win tonight and tomorrow and Thursday, this year’s Tigers would match the win total of the 2003 Tigers.

Strong chance that even if the Tigers were to go 0 for the rest of the season the Rockies would still finish with a worse record.

I usually end up going alone a few times a year.  I enjoy it.  Last year I went to the Angels game that started at like 10 pm.  I was already down there when they delayed it and the small storm system would.not.move.  Otherwise I never would have went.  I stayed in my car for almost 2 hours waiting for it to stop raining.  At that point I was determined to see the game... and I needed to go to the bathroom so I figured I would walk in to at least have a beer and use the bathroom, then leave.  But by that point they announced a starting time.  I was the only person in my section.

It's nice to just have your own thoughts and not have to entertain or whatever.

when I've gone and done SRO and paced the concourse like a softball coach, while I watched the game I've enjoyed myself a lot.   Now, going and having a chat with my dad or kids its also very nice.

It’s supposed to be 86° with something like 60% humidity when the game begins and it’s not supposed to rain until about 10 PM. I hope this is true and I hope our bullpen day will be like last year‘s were.
