Emilio Pagan for INF Hao Yu-Lee

maybe, if they cannot get better than Pagan for Lee, then do it

Emilio Pagan for RHP Troy Melton and Justice Bigbie

maybe, Bigbie IMO will not have any significant ML career at all, but Melton is in line to help later this year, Pagan would be better short term piece

TJ Friedl for one of McGonigle, Ranier, or Briceno

nope. OF is not a need for the foreseeable future (Greene/Meadows/Carpenter/Vierling/Perez/Malloy then Clark) and if they ship out an elite prospect it would not be for Friedl

I am going to ask these two on both the reds forum www.redszone.com and here and compare. I will report back. I think the Reds are somewhat keeping their heads above water right now but by the deadline will be solidly out of it. The offense just isn't good enough. The Reds really need OF help, and the Tigers seem to really be lacking in OF prospects (I am not including Clark because I am assuming he is untouchable), so probably not a good fit. Please feel free to reply back with what you think would be a good return as well.

Emilio Pagan for INF Hao Yu-Lee

Emilio Pagan for RHP Troy Melton and Justice Bigbie

Before you scoff at Pagan, he has been really solid this year - .87 WHIP and I think he is the perfect reliever for Comerica Park's dimensions.

TJ Friedl for one of McGonigle, Ranier, or Briceno

I would prefer the Reds extend Friedl, but I wasn't born yesterday, so I know that is not happening.

What say you?

Thery arent giving up a top prospect for another left handed hitting corner outfielder

Friedl is a CF

Friedl would be a corner with the Tigers and Green, Meadows and Frield would be an excellent defensive outfield.  However, outfield is not a need for the Tigers.  They've got Greene, Meadows, Carpenter and Perez already.  If they trade decent prospects at the deadline, I think it will be for a pitcher

We've got no place to put TJ Friedl unless Parker's nerve issue pops up again.

I could be talked into Madden and Bigbie for Pagan. The main thing I don't love is when Pagan gets hit, it goes a looooong way.

7 weeks from tomorrow is the trade deadline, and ...

Sleeper position: Catcher. Jake looks bad before and after injury, Dingler I suspect will wear down, and Hinch would love a LH compliment to DD.

I like this one.

I'm going to keep this on my radar...

On the farm?  Franyerber, Anderson, Jace Jung...maybe Matt Manning

Also... Roberto Campos or Trei Cruz if someone wants to take that swing, pitching like Melton/ Hamm/ Madden/ etc. so I think an arm or two could be in play. If it's a reliever like Hoffman or Miller or Finnegan as suggested above... I don't think the price is exorbitant but I don't know what other teams' priorities are. A couple of lower-level swings, or one higher level prospect?

So... Just guessing...

We’ll need a starter and a back of the bullpen guy. I don’t see us going after a third baseman but maybe Scott’ll surprise us.

Potential Targets that wouldn't cost the Tigers major prospects and just be a back of the rotation starter to get you through.  Might not have to start them in the playoffs.

Pirates -  Andrew Heaney & Mitch Keller

Nationals - Jake Irvin

A's - Jeffrey Springs, Luis Severino

Rangers - Patrick Corbin

Reds - Nick Martinez - they'll get a good look at him tonight.

Rockies - Kyle Freeland (much better ERA away from Coors)

Angels - Tyler Anderson -  the Angels will fade, trust me

I think there is going to be a bidding war for Nick Martinez. He is kind of a perfect pitcher for a contending team. He has been very solid as a starter and has back-end of the bullpen relieving experience.

Brewers trade Civale to CWS for A Vaughn, who has been so bad he was optioned down to AAA; 3rd pick of 2019 draft 1 spot after Bobby Witt and 2 spots before Riley Greene, was supposed to be a can't miss R/R bat at 1b; just like Tork but a year earlier.

Civale is FA to be so will be moved by deadline.

A bit sobering when you’re not good enough to make the White Sox varsity squad.

It’ll be interesting to see whether he can do anything as a Brewer. If so it would be another that for some guys, which system you’re in makes all the difference.

Interesting players on the rosters of our fellow Central Division competitors:

Cleveland: Bo Naylor, LH Catcher; Cade Smith, RH Reliever at 2.05/ 0.96/ 12.65 (career ERA/ WHIP/ K's/9).

Minnesota: Brooks Lee, switch-hit 3B'man; Griffin Jax, RH Reliever at 4.04/ 1.14/ 10.0 (career ERA/ WHIP/ K's/9).

KC: Jonathan India, RH'd 3B'man; Steven Cruz, RH'd reliever.

CWS:  Ed Quero, switch-hitting Catcher, Tyler Gilbert, LH'd reliever.

Question: Should we consider a trade with one of our competitors if it's a trade Harris & Hinch like?

I've never really understood the idea of not making a trade within your division.  If you think it's a good trade, then do it.  If you think it will come back to haunt you, don't do it.
