That's what makes it so difficult for Hinch. The inconsistency. One day a pitcher throws strikes and looks good, the next time out he stinks. Our strength last season has turned into our weakness this season. Other teams know it's our weakness and it may be nearly impossible to trade for any pitching help. Not to mention, Harris only seems to make minor deals. Or pick up pitchers from the waiver wire.

Other than Skubal, I'd say Kahnle has been the Tigers most valuable pitcher. Definitely an all-star candidate. What a great signing, and there is a year 2 on the contract

That's why we need to hang onto our young talent. I'm not sure if Harris is going to be allowed to spend that kind of money.

So when all is said and done, we lost one road series and still don't have a 4 game losing streak. 

It was good to see Holton have a decent outing even if it was short. TBF Hurter was the only pitcher to flub it today - his command has gone bye-bye. Don't think we will be seeing him at leverage again for a while so there is a hole to be filled there.

Also somewhat lost in the two losses to TB, the Tigers scored 20 runs in each of these last two 3 game series.

To your last point, a good chunk of that was rung up on Whitley, who had been released recently and had an era over 8 when he came in today. Now it’s 13. But yes, your point stands, they have been scoring enough to win…it’s the pitching.

Assuming the world doesn't change, and with baseball's labor and the world's politics that is not assured, those guys in the minors are going to help pay for a few salaries.  You can afford a $30+ million left fielder when you have a Meadows in his arbitration years and Max getting paid league minimum.  (What an amazing defensive outfield that would be.)  I am so excited to see how this team unfolds.  McGonigle and friends have to be kept together.  In and of themselves they are a core of champion players.  Adding Briceno, Max, and Kevin to a playoff quality team, think dynasty my friends.  Think dynasty.

Keeping our quality players is the hope and dream. I guess we'll see, it's not my money so...just sign them! 😁😁

Riley may be the best Tigers home grown outfielder since Mr. Kaline and Mr. Horton. He has a ways to go to be in Gibby's class, but his ceiling is higher because of his D. He also plays as hard as Gibby, which may result in a similar injury history. Looking back at his draft, it's close between Whitt, Greene and Corbin for top spot, imho

Granderson was also very good. He ended up having a fine career. If Greene can finally stay healthy and cut down on the strikeouts, he has the potential to be a superstar. But I wouldn't consider him there yet, IMO.
