There’s nobody there and there’s no wait. Small victories in a bad world. May favorite "hidden perk" was for a while when I had to fly back and forth regularly from DTW to MSP early in the morning. For whatever reason at that time Delta just had open boarding on that first flight. Just walk to the gate and right onto the plane. Maybe because the plane was already there in the morning pre-prepped and ready to go? Don't know why but it was a real throw back to 30yrs earlier when flying was still something to look forward to. 1 Quote

IdahoBert Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Took a walk during the day down Boise‘s historic Harrison Boulevard, which goes all out for Halloween. There’s a thousand people at night on the street and when the lights are on, it’s a much bigger deal but these photos will give you an idea of the creativity and the sense of competition that goes on to come up with neat stuff. I rezzed the photos down from 4MB each to 1MB so they’re not as nice as the original but you get an idea. it’s pretty incredible to go trick-or-treating at night with four kids like I used to, but there’s really long lines and if you go a couple blocks away, people will give you two fistfuls of candy because they get less traffic and they want to get rid of it. 1 2 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted November 1 Posted November 1 (edited) We've lived in the same house through a couple of generations now, and even when our kids (echo generation) were young we never got more than half a dozen ToTers - mostly since we live on a short block, the same amount walking around the other side nets you more houses. We've had decades where the average was maybe 3 kids. So we know the neighborhood has turned over again, but tonight was like nothing we'd ever seen here, about 3 dozen kids. That's not much by normal standards but it was off the charts for us. The best one was an inflatable "Kenny". I told him him to stay alive and he laughed and my wife looked at me with no clue. 😱 Edited November 1 by gehringer_2 1 Quote
oblong Posted Tuesday at 12:27 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 12:27 AM If you are in your 50s and have kids in their 20s this is like Bing Crosby singing with David Bowie. For those not… that’s Anthony from the Wiggles. Fruit Salad…. Quote

IdahoBert Posted Thursday at 03:30 PM Posted Thursday at 03:30 PM Revisiting Tucson, Arizona this week where I lived for 13 years for the first time in almost 40 years and drove by the home I inhabited from May 1977 to May 1978, which is colloquially known as “the Dillinger house” where the famous gangster John Dillinger was arrested on January 25, 1934. It is now immaculately restored with every conceivable gleaming modern upgrade. My pal Milt and I and a cast of colorful revolving third roommates spent a fruitful year within these walls and it was really quite a time. 2 Quote
