IdahoBert Posted Sunday at 02:30 PM Posted Sunday at 02:30 PM I think this game might be exclusive to ESPN. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted Sunday at 02:35 PM Posted Sunday at 02:35 PM Winning this game would be huge. There’s no way the Tigers could be considered the favorites for this game. Perhaps statistically they are due for some “pulling rabbits out of hats“ types of victories to make up for that bad string of 13 games. Quote

Sports_Freak Posted Sunday at 03:00 PM Posted Sunday at 03:00 PM ESPN showed a stat on Sanchez. His last 10 games? A 1.90 ERA. His last 7 games, a 1.76 ERA. Quote

Somehow I picture quiet baseball analysts more as the murderer than the murder solvers. I bet Dexter pored over box scores and advance stats in his free time away from the police lab, when he wasn’t stabbing. Edited Sunday at 03:56 PM by lordstanley 1 Quote

On Facebook I jokingly quoted the guy that said this in the movie Office Space and I was sternly warned and threatened with apermanent ban if there was another “infraction.” For two weeks whenever I logged into my account I was reminded of what an uncivil and violent person I allegedly am. AI is not intelligent. It doesn’t understand humor, or context or irony. And Zuckerberg is claiming that he’s going to build an AI center as big as Manhattan to develop this “intelligence.“ Quote

gehringer_2 Posted Sunday at 04:35 PM Posted Sunday at 04:35 PM (edited) Quote AI is not intelligent. What cracks me up is that it doesn't even have a good handle on what should be its own area of knowledge. My latest go around with AI was over a 2020 intel mac book air the SO has. If you ask AI "Will my 10th gen Intel Mac run Tahoe" it will say "Yes" If you ask it if your 2020 Macbook Air it will say "no" (the correct answer). I would say that on IT and computer tech questions I have searched in the last month - it bats just about 50%. Even 80% is too unreliable to be of any serious use. They've got a long way to go. Sports_Freak Posted Sunday at 05:28 PM Posted Sunday at 05:28 PM Getting away from complaining about Will Vest, Scott Harris or the bullpen in general, let's discuss the over and under on Rileys strikeouts today against a really good LH pitcher. Does 2.5 sound about right? Quote

Does 2.5 sound about right? He's been slightly better the last couple of days - he managed three consecutive games without a K before wiffing once yesterday. What's looking really alarming though is he has exactly 1 walk in his last 88 PA. Riley has never walked all that much, but at 1% over nearly a month, there is definitely something amiss in his approach. Edited Sunday at 06:03 PM by gehringer_2 Quote
lordstanley Posted Sunday at 06:06 PM Posted Sunday at 06:06 PM Houston has lost to Boston and now is 3 games behind the Tigers and Jays in the race for a bye into the ALDS Quote

Playing in Philly sure is tough. Those crowds are kinda rough when they get going. Quote

IdahoBert Posted Sunday at 07:16 PM Posted Sunday at 07:16 PM I wish this were a normal game with a normal start time instead of a marquee Sunday night ESPN game. Waiting another four hours bugs me. Quote

GalagaGuy Posted Sunday at 08:17 PM Posted Sunday at 08:17 PM (edited) Twinkies really gonna blow this three run 9th inning lead. 😬 Twinkies hang on for the 5-4 victory! 🥳 Edited Sunday at 08:24 PM by GalagaGuy Quote
lordstanley Posted Sunday at 08:41 PM Posted Sunday at 08:41 PM So the three teams to care about - Guardians, Jays and Astros - all lose, so good day so far. And the Yankees also lost which means their record in the past 45 games is 17-28! Quote

For me, the waiting isn’t so much the irritant as much as just that Sunday afternoon Tiger games have always been part of the rhythm of summer for me. i guess it’s a small price to pay for having a noteworthy team. 1 Quote
