Jason_R Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Seriously. He is the only one who did anything out there today beside Laporta. Quote
holygoat Posted September 7 Posted September 7 With most teams opting to not play starters much (if at all) in the preseason, I don't want to read too much into the first few games. The Lions looked terrible, though. Maybe replacing both coordinators really is a big deal. Gotta beat the Bears next week. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted September 7 Author Posted September 7 I made a meme to better express my feelings in this GDT. Take a walk y’all. It’s going to be okay. 1 Quote

Just tell him the Lions lost it by giving the ball away after winning the coin flip. Gave up a TD and never caught up. Loser coach...Gave. The. Ball. Away. Fire them all...😅 Quote

With a team as talented as the Lions should be, how bad they look and the score doesn’t really matter to me. The stars didn’t forget how to play football they will get it fixed just a matter of how quickly. The offense will only go as far as the offensive line will take them. If Goff doesn't have time to throw, he will not look like a star and the receivers won't either. If they can't establish the run because Goff can't complete passes or gets sacked, Gibbs and Montgomery will not look like stars. The conservative approach and lack of creativity was disappointing, as was the inability to make adjustments. 1 Quote
Motown Bombers Posted September 8 Posted September 8 This game has reminded of the words of one of the greatest philosophers of modern times and something we should all remember as we move through this season: "This team is going to take on the identity of this city and this city has been down and it found a way to get up. It's found a way to overcome adversity, So this team is going to be built on, we're going to kick you in the teeth, And when you punch us back, we're going to smile at you. And when you knock us down, we're going to get up and on the way up, we're going to bite a kneecap off. And we're going to stand up and it's going to take two more shots to knock us down. And on the way up, we're going to take your other kneecap and we're going to get up and it's going to take three shots to get us down. And when we do, we're going to take another hunk out of you. Before long, we're going to be the last one standing." 1 1 Quote

Deferring sounds great in theory but it's a disaster when the other team scores a TD. Also when you're down multiple scores. If a team has a great defense, I may approve but a shaky defense? Give the ball away and spend the next several minutes trying to get it back? Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted September 8 Author Posted September 8 The decision on the coin flip is so inconsequential I almost wish we would lose it every time so I wouldn’t have to hear about it. 1 1 Quote
Hongbit Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Sometimes you’re the fire hydrant. On to next week… If they lose at home with offense and secondary issues again then it will be time for concern. Quote
Jason_R Posted September 8 Posted September 8 “Rookie right guard Tate Ratledge had a rough debut for the Lions. Unfortunately, Ratledge had to open his career on the road against one of the new best pass-rushing units in the NFL. He had the worst Pro Football Focus grade of all the Lions pass blockers at 36.2. The next-best lineman was left guard Christian Mahogany, at 50.8.” https://lionswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2025/09/07/studs-and-duds-lions-packers-week-1/86033189007 Quote

NYLion Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I've been saying it all offseason that I think it's going to be a rough start to the season because the Lions aren't nearly as good on the lines which is where most games are won and with the loss of the coordinators and the adjustments that will come with that. I still think it's a playoff team but it's going to take time for it to gel, I just hope the Lions aren't out of it already by the time that happens because the schedule is absolutely brutal and unforgiving. Fans really need to relax. This is a bit different, there's more question marks than there were the previous few seasons. With that said, it is too early to press the panic button but there are some very real issues that won't be so easily fixed overnight. Edited September 8 by NYLion Quote
GalagaGuy Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Good news, it doesn't matter how the Lions do this year because the Ravens are winning the Super Bowl. Quote
wolverinefan Posted September 8 Posted September 8 It's such a shame that we lost to Micah Parsons. I mean that is who we played, right? If you ask Romo and Nantz there were no other players on the field. Quote
number20 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Good god... it's only been 1 game and we're already back to hearing this sh** again Quote
buddha Posted September 8 Posted September 8 if this game doesnt worry you a bit, youre either very young or you just started rooting for the lions. looked like old times in green bay. it reminded me of that turkey day game a few years ago where the packers just killed us. couldnt stop them all day. how long until dan campbell starts calling plays? week 9? Week one is waaaay too early to start writing this team off or worrying that we have seriois, structural problems with this team. Even given the past history of this organization, there is still no reason to believe we're in SOL territory. That said, this offense looked like one of the worst in the league today. In particular, the offensive line was dreadful and the playcalling was subpar and unimaginative. If we see a pattern of this type of play continue next week against the Bears then I'll start to worry a bit. If we see this go on into weeks 3, 4, and 5 then we're getting into the debate about whether this team has structural and foundational problems. Edited September 8 by Mr.TaterSalad Quote

We just won’t know if Ben Johnson was the mastermind until games are played. Not surprised to be the underdog on the road against a team expected to be good. If the offense is still explosive and unpredictable and the defense is at least what it was end of last year this is likely a win. Narrator: They weren’t Quote
