With most teams opting to not play starters much (if at all) in the preseason, I don't want to read too much into the first few games. The Lions looked terrible, though. Maybe replacing both coordinators really is a big deal. Gotta beat the Bears next week.

The offense will only go as far as the offensive line will take them.  If Goff doesn't have time to throw,  he will not look like a star and the receivers won't either. If they can't establish the run because Goff can't complete passes or gets sacked, Gibbs and Montgomery will not look like stars.  The conservative approach and lack of creativity was disappointing, as was the inability to make adjustments.

This game has reminded of the words of one of the greatest philosophers of modern times and something we should all remember as we move through this season:

Deferring sounds great in theory but it's a disaster when the other team scores a TD. Also when you're down multiple scores. If a team has a great defense, I may approve but a shaky defense? Give the ball away and spend the next several minutes trying to get it back?

Last season, they lost the 2nd game of the year, to Tampa, at home. And then we won 11 in a row. Fans really need to relax.

I've been saying it all offseason that I think it's going to be a rough start to the season because the Lions aren't nearly as good on the lines which is where most games are won and with the loss of the coordinators and the adjustments that will come with that. I still think it's a playoff team but it's going to take time for it to gel, I just hope the Lions aren't out of it already by the time that happens because the schedule is absolutely brutal and unforgiving.

This is a bit different, there's more question marks than there were the previous few seasons. 

With that said, it is too early to press the panic button but there are some very real issues that won't be so easily fixed overnight.

if this game doesnt worry you a bit, youre either very young or you just started rooting for the lions.  looked like old times in green bay.

it reminded me of that turkey day game a few years ago where the packers just killed us.  couldnt stop them all day.  

how long until dan campbell starts calling plays?  week 9?

Week one is waaaay too early to start writing this team off or worrying that we have seriois, structural problems with this team. Even given the past history of this organization, there is still no reason to believe we're in SOL territory.

That said, this offense looked like one of the worst in the league today. In particular, the offensive line was dreadful and the playcalling was subpar and unimaginative. If we see a pattern of this type of play continue next week against the Bears then I'll start to worry a bit. If we see this go on into weeks 3, 4, and 5 then we're getting into the debate about whether this team has structural and foundational problems.

Not surprised to be the underdog on the road against a team expected to be good.

If the offense is still explosive and unpredictable and the defense is at least what it was end of last year this is likely a win.
