You know that he works with children with cancer and started a foundation to help families deal with sick children, right? No, I'm just kidding, he's an asshole, **** him. 1 2 Quote
oblong Posted September 26 Posted September 26 they made a bobblehead for him and gave it out to fans. Hunter should have made the catch Quote
IdahoBert Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I had forgotten that bio rhythms were even a thing. Quote
IdahoBert Posted September 26 Posted September 26 From Wikipedia: The biorhythm theory is the pseudoscientific idea that peoples' daily lives are significantly affected by rhythmic cycles with periods of exactly 23, 28 and 33 days,[2][3][4] typically a 23-day physical cycle, a 28-day emotional cycle, and a 33-day intellectual cycle. The idea was developed by German otolaryngologist Wilhelm Fliess in the late 19th century, and was popularized in the United States in the late 1970s. The proposal has been independently tested and, consistently, no validity for it has been found. Quote
oblong Posted September 26 Posted September 26 In one of his books Bill James talked about Stan Musial. He had an unusual "down" year, by his standards. Must have been 1947 based on his stats? Anyway, James said he was trying to find something in the numbers to figure out why. He was age 26. His prime. He had been great in the years before and after. Won MVP the year before and after. It was his second year back after WWII service. When James met him he asked about that season and Stan said they had just had a kid and he wasn't a good sleeper and kept him up at night. He still had a good year just not a Stan Musial year. 2 Quote

IdahoBert Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Just practicing at being hopeful for a change. I get tired of being a Debbie Downer. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted September 26 Posted September 26 What I think will happen...........realistically Cleveland wins 2 of 3 Boston wins 2 of 3 Houston wins 2 of 3 If that happens it's Cleveland 88-74 Boston 89-73 Detroit 87-75 Houston 87-75 1- Toronto 2 - Seattle 3 - Cleveland 4 - New York 5 - Boston 6 - Detroit - We go right back to Cleveland with revenge in our hearts. I just don't expect much help from the Rangers or Angels this weekend. My preseason prediction was that we would not get a 90-game winner in the AL, but we'd have about 8 teams bunched together. I was fairly close, as nobody really dominated and we have 7 teams and right now of those 7 the best record is 91 wins and the 7th has 85 wins. Only 6 games apart. "I really think the American League is a toss up between about 8 teams. An injury here, a surprise story there. Every race goes down the last weekend, except the NL West." Quote
Adullin Posted September 26 Posted September 26 This is either going to be great or really bad. I have hope Quote
lordstanley Posted September 26 Posted September 26 The Tigers need to sign a senior citizen (or maybe let’s not give Harris any ideas) so he can write an inspirational and heartwarming letter to the team, like this 80 yard old man from Nova Scotia who plays on a men’s softball team. 2 Quote

IdahoBert Posted September 26 Posted September 26 To prepare for this game I’m watching From the World of John Wick: Ballerina that just became available on STARZ. I didn’t realize Norman Reedus was in it. Building up a head of steam for this game. Quote

I think I want to get into a local 48 years and over league next year. I have not played softball in around 30 years. I was never athletic. But I figure by now, the athletes are getting older and succumbing to age and injury, so maybe I’ll have a fairer shot at things. Quote

lordstanley Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I’m going to go for a pre-game walk and every time I see a college-aged girl on Robson St. wearing a Red Sox cap, like I inevitably will because that’s their thing, I will snarl at them. Quote

I was in Livonia on a random 10am summer day in June or July and saw all of Bicentennial Park filled with old farts playing softball. Looked Awesome! Quote
