No is getting what it needs to in more red/rural counties but the results from Loudoun suggest that they are going to underperform in NoVa... not to mention nothing reporting from Richmond yet as well

Just wanted to throw this in here for anyone who considers what's happening in Virginia "Foul Play"

The Democrats are using the GOP playbook. All old rules are out, for now

The best part about this is, the Texas gerrymander relies on Hispanics staying red but all elections since Trump have shown Hispanics have gone back to Democrats. Republicans not only may not gain seats in the Texas gerrymander but could lose them.

This this this... A whole lot of whining and crying on the GOP side tonight about this result, but the reality is that NONE of this would be happening if their Golden Calf POTUS wasn't out there encouraging GOP leaders in states like Texas and Florida and NC.

He and they made their beds here...

at least he's worried.

Insert meme of Doogie Houser mind melding with the brain bug in Starship Troopers and declaring "its afraid!" and everyone cheering.

I just read the Virginia redistricting passed. But I also read it will be going to the Virginia State Supreme Court? The only information I could find about their court is that it's conservative? Are they going to block it?

I glanced over at the Washington Post earlier this morning and yep, its a house organ for a guy trying to sweet talk Trump for his business interests.

Listening to Stuart Stevens talk about the referendum.  He says the numbers were:

  • double digits Yes in areas with predominantly African American residents
  • single digits Yes in white predominant areas
  • double digits Yes in Hispanic areas
  • bare majority no vote in Virginia Beach
  • Doors blown off for Yes in NOVA and Richmond

So the devious attempts to use Obama images to juice No vote failed because African Americans are not "low IQ" like Trump says they are.

The stars and bars crowd out in the Shenandoah and other places where they worship Robert E. Lee are still out there

Hispanics probably turned off by all of the past year...how is that possible?  You set forth a gestapo against everyone who is brown...why don't they like outright racism by the federal authorities?

VA Beach is a GOP stronghold.  They barely kept that maybe because some of those military retirees were sick of the current drunken asshat running the organization formerly known as the DoD.

Yes, and that's also an unintended consequence to making districts comply with US Civil Rights/Voting Rights laws.  To "guarantee" a blue seat by making it bluer you make neighboring districts redder.  So instead of a generally reliable blue seat and a swing district you get a locked blue seat and a pink seat nearby.

Yeah, there would not be as many African Americans in congress if Southern states didn't carve out the districts to max them up.

I'm not opposed to that but it is a side effect and if the intent is to make them a democratic seat, under the guise of racial equality, rather than siply minority represented (which is a key difference to me) then the overall effect may be negated.

It will be interesting to see what the Virginia Supreme Court may do. The punted when the referendum first came up and may be reluctant to weigh in now that the cows are completely out of the barn.

Since the management of elections is constitutionally assigned to state legislatures they may just back off.

Then it will be interesting to see if the SC has the stomach to take the case. Given the timeline of the upcoming midterms, it could be problamatic
