Of course, in Angel's Stadium, the Sun has been right there on the line from 3rd to 2nd in the late afternoon for over 50 yrs now. Sometimes seems like it takes longer for baseball to figure stuff out than it should. Quote

I used to bounce throws all the time. yeah - IFs have been bouncing throws at least since the first non-dirt IF showed up - it's part of the toolbox now. It just makes me laugh that it took some Angel players all these years to figure it out (if that's actually the first time, or maybe they've been doing it and no-one national noticed yet). I've seen enough Tigers games out there over the years to remember commentary about the difficulty of receiving that throw when the Sun is over the 3rd base line. Edited July 24 by gehringer_2 Quote

I was teasing a bit.. .my bounces were generally not of the intentionally good variety Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted July 25 Author Posted July 25 Again, not saying that Higginson is better. What I am saying is that Kyle Tucker is only slightly better than Bobby Higginson and Tucker had a much better lineup around him and a much more hitter-friendly park too for most of his career. 60 mil a year for Tucker - what a joke. I totally agree that Tucker isn’t worth $60 mil, but these stats you’re showing show Tucker is significantly better than Higginson. Much higher OPS and OPS +, higher WAR, and close on most counting stats with just over 60% of Higginson’s plate appearances (over 2000 less) Plus he’s a much better fielder. Not really a good comparison IMO Quote

Not really a good comparison IMO But you have to consider what surrounded Higginson and what surrounded Tucker and you also have to consider that the 2nd half of Higginson's career was played in a canyon and Tucker played in a joke of a hitter's park. He's just not that much better. Plus, the last couple years for Higginson were terrible, he fell off quickly, but in his prime years, he was right there with Tucker. I just think it's a joke that people think he's such a great player. He's surrounded by an All Star team this year and Here is a different comparison. From age 24 (when Higginson came in) to Age 29 (where Tucker is) Do those numbers look a whole lot different? They are both .856 OPS. Higginson (the bottom) has a higher BA and OBP. And more total bases. When you factor in TB per PA, Tucker is .421 and Higginson is .422. Tucker has slightly more power over this strech 142-134. But Tucker played in a MUCH friendlier hitter's park than Higginson. RBI's - Tucker's got that too 483-458, but look at the quality of players that surrounded Tucker vs. the slop that usually surrounded Higginson. Yes, Tucker is a better fielder than Higginson was, but he's not that much better. Higginson dropped off very quickly - and it may have been a combination of injuries, horrible teams 2002/2003 and I think Higginson liked to party a bit too much. Tucker is a better player, but only slightly. And he's going to be the poster boy for the upcoming labor stoppage. That 60 million the Dodgers gave him - along with all that money Bo Bichette got - is going to be the drum they bang for a salary cap and I think the owners are MUCH more willing to wait it out this time. monkeytargets39 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 (edited) I don’t really care. He was complete dog water all year and I don’t want him on my team anymore. Cost us a lot of runs by not performing and is unplayable on defense. Might as well just sign Matt Stairs again. Edited July 30 by monkeytargets39 1 Quote
