I am definitely not looking forward to the Trump people using it as a cudgel in their stupid ****ing culture war, whinging endlessly about how woke the series is because the it has the gall and the audacity to highlight any contributions at all from women, people of color, and First Nations people. The MAGA elitists might even use the program as an excuse to put PBS into the guillotine once and for all. It looks amazing, though. Quote

There are no photographs, no living witnesses to put on screen, and a lot of what would be interesting letters and correspondence had been destroyed. Martha Washington burned all of her letters to and from George, for example. That said, we had a chance to see a preview a couple of weeks ago. What we saw was great. The National Park Service, Virginia 250 Committee, and the PBS station in Norfolk had the showing on the battlefield in Yorktown. They showed about an hours worth of footage, a lot of what we saw was tailored for the event so there was a lot of Yorktown footage. You can see Burns and company's fingerprints on this, it didn't seem to show any political leaning imo. But there are folks who tend to find Colonial Williamsburg a bit too woke for their tastes Quote

We get lectured and legally regulated on what is acceptable morality and life values by people like Mr. Schriver, only to have them get caught doing what they are lecturing and legally regulating the rest of us not to do.
