IdahoBert Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago If “pretty boy“ Harris doesn’t roll over for some disgruntled GM too bad. I don’t know if Harris‘s rules are working, but he’s not obligated to play by the rules of other GM’s who are always hoping to fleece each other anyway. Quote

I’m not sure those guys are as journalistic even-handed as they purport to be. I know Heyman and Sherman definitely are not, but then they’re New York beat guys masquerading as national baseball journalists anyway. Quote

You can be a tough negotiator but if you are creative, can find ways for both sides to get what they want - like structuring muli-team deals etc, you might be high on other GMs' lists to deal with even if they never expect to get something for nothing from you. I can imagine Dombroski was of that type. If a guy picks up the phone and just says no (even if you expected he might) but isn't interested in getting a process going I'd imagine he's not going to be a guy that gets called again. You often hear stories about trades that end up miles from the players that were the original targets because a conversation got started. Edited 1 hour ago by gehringer_2 Quote
